  • Grand Desert Points through FF

I have been looking to purchase FF points resale. I am looking at one in particular. It is 154,000 points and it states it is for a 2 bedroom at the Grand Desert in Las Vegas. I found a link on this website to an old FF points chart that said the Grand Desert in prime for a 2 bedroom would be 203,000 points (if I'm reading correctly) and that 154,000 points is only good for a 1 bedroom in prime time. Can anyone tell me from a current points chart if I have this right??? Thank you!!

You are correct. 154,000 points will let you reserve 7 nights in a 1BR Deluxe during Prime season weeks: 2, 6-42, 46, 49, 52.

A 2br requires 203,000 points for 7 nights in Prime season and 182,000 points in High season.

Of course, you can reserve 3, 4, or 7 nights in Prime season. So the 154,000 points would get 3 or 4 nights in a 2br in Prime season.

Wow. Thanks everyone for the quick responses. I think I may be better off buying a week instead of points then. The MF seems to work out to be cheaper that way. Thank you again. I love this site!!

Not a week at a Wyndham resort? Those are dogs (they are older resorts and the weeks that are left are mostly those that didn't choose to convert to points or are too expensive to convert. They only trade between themselves, the FAX system, and RCI). What you should do is look for a resale of points with an annual fee you don't mind that is at or slightly more than you think you'll need. (210,00-230,000 or more). Points spend the same no matter where they are based (you do get ARP 13 months at your home resort vs 10 at all others) while weeks based timeshares are not good for trading in general terms - they are more meant to be used at the given resort. There never were any deeded weeks sold at Grand Desert, only points.

I am not trying to steer you away from FSP - just to help you 'educate' yourself about the best way to buy and use points.

If you CAN find a week at the resort you want to go to at a reasonable price and it fits your travel needs, go for it.

But points can be very flexible - especially for Vegas where most people don't want to stay a full week..... so take your time to make the best decision for you.
