• New Wyndham owner from the UK!!

    Hello Everyone

Just found this great site - what a find!! I just bought points from Wyndam after staying as a guest (through a friend) at Palm Aire (Florida).

After reading a few thread on this site, I do feel abit more informed about what I've got into. I have read that you can do what you call 'Recisnd' - basically pull out and get it on a resale, but the 10 days have gone now so thats bad luck for me. I saw you can buy from Ebay, but I'm not sure how it would work anyway - me being from the UK.

Anyway, I do have a few question (probably the start of many).

    1) I bought 168,000 to use EOY, my use year starts 2009. If I don't use all the 168,000, can I put the remainder in the Credit Pool for 2010? My sales rep said I could, but on reading the book it says I cannot put anything in the Credit Pool at the end of 2008, as I haven't been in long enought yet (no time to have pooled creditds)

    2) Also if I do decide to pool some credits, then realise I am able to travel after all, can I pull them back?

    3) Also is it true you can only stay in a resort for 1 week maximum?

Thanks in advance to anyone out thier who answers.

pS No any accountants/finachial adviser out thier who can advise on how I can pay Wyndham off without that rubbish 15% credit?

Since your bought an EOY odd year, your first points will be for 2009 use year. You can deposit some of those 2009 points into the Credit Pool before 12/31/08. If you had purchased 2008 points, it is too late for you to deposit 2008 points into the Credit Pool.

    2) Also if I do decide to pool some credits, then realise I am able to travel after all, can I pull them back?

Not directly. What you have to do is make a reservation and cancel it. After canceling, you get cancelled points and you can use them to make reservations and make deposits into your exhange company, RCI or II.

    3) Also is it true you can only stay in a resort for 1 week maximum?

No. However, it is subject to availability and the amount of points you own or control for that use year.

Thanks in advance to anyone out thier who answers.

      Hello and welcome,
      1) Points need to be put into the credit pool before your use year, so you won't be able to put "leftover" points there. Depending on how many leftover points you have, you may be able to deposit them to RCI for a week.

      2) Mike's answer is correct if you put points into the credit pool then want to use them for an exchange company. If you wanted to book through Wyndham, I don't think you'd have to go through all those steps.

There's lots of info on the forum Mike linked above, including a downloadable "Primer" document which will give you a great overview of the Wyndham system.

If just pass a few days, you may want to still try follow the rescind procedure. The worse they can say is no.

For 3) you can stay any length as long as you have enough points and get it. I know people stay in same resort over the winter

          Not sure UK.

People in US can get loans aganist home requity, and use that to pay off, it als provide a little tax incentive.

You can also talk to your bank, maybe they are willing to provide a personal loan with lower rate.

You can aslo talk to some credit card company, sometimes they have those special rate liek 0% when transfer the balance.

If you have whole life, you maybe able to borrow against it.

            Still abit confused. Sorry!!!!!!!

            Hi All

And thanks for your replies. I'm still abit confused about the Credits Pool. Sorry if I'm not reading them correctly, as I'm still reading up. These are 2quotes, I have read..........

            Quote fr Mshatty

OK, so I have points to start in my use year of 2009. The is my very first use year after only purchasing just recently. I will not have any left over points by 2008 as my year wouldn't have come into effect yet, so how do I deposit points I don't actually have yet, into a credit pool? Sorry if its an obvious answer. I have actually registered with the other forum as advised but haven't had time to read up on it all yet.

In re to my Credit situation, I had no choice but to take up Wyndams 15.9% finance as I am not from the US, therefore wouldn't have been able to pass a 'Credit Check'. My only option is a take a loan out here then pay them off, but I'm slightly reluctant to do that and clear it all, as if their are any problems down the line, I feel that Wyndam would be paid off, but I'm still left with a debt. Having said that, I have no other option. I will speak to them (finance) later today, as I want to be able to pay amounts off as an when, but again being from the UK, I can't just do a bank transfer, international bankers drafts are very expensive here!!!

Sorry to go off topic, just airing my thoughts.

Thank you everyone, and I will definetly look up the other website for info.

              Michelle:

You got the point at least 13 month before. So say your first point is starting at Jan 2009. It is for you to travel between Jan 2009 to Dec 2009. It does not mean you can only make reservation until Jan 2009. For your home resort, you can make reservtion at 13 month before the travel day, so you will be able to call at Dec 2007 to make new year 2009 trip, and that is the time you can do anything about your 2009 point.

To put to credit pool, for non-VIP people, the only restriction is you have to call a VC, and tell them you want do that before the actual use year starts (in this case, before Jan 2009).

So, you can call at Jan 2008 make a reservation for Feb 2009 Palm Aire trip, than put all th remining points to credit pool at that time if you want.

Make your trip plan as early as possible
