  • Is there a pecking order for unit requests for exchanges?

We now own 1.2 million points (resale) in the Wyndham FSP system. We are using RCI to exchange into the Wyndham Royal Sea Cliff on the Big Island. Is there a pecking order for unit/view requests? We are not using Wyndham points for the RCI exchange.

They will most likely view you only as a RCI Exchanger. You can ask if their records indicate you are a rich big 1.2 million point Wyn owner also.

They'll schedule you for an owner's update to sell you the new Presidential Reserve.

I am unsure if Wyn does what Marriott does and gives the bottom of the barrel rooms to exchangers. At Royal Sea Cliff all of the rooms appear to have an angle view of the ocean. Some closer than others.

It never hurts to speak with the front desk a week or so before your arrival.
Wyndham Kona Hawaiian worked with us twice and was very accomodating (but we did trade in through RCI with FSP points).
Not sure about Royal Sea Cliffs...

That front row is only 2 stories high. So you want to get as high as possible if you're behind it, and not too far behind. We had a nice view of waves hitting the black lava, it wasn't just oceanview above a building.

FWIW, this is several times now that we've asked for, and received, excellent view units where we were non-owning low-rung RCI exchangers- including at a Marriott, so I always ask, even when I don't have high expectations.

And here's a photo of the place which you can match to the resort layout map:

Hi! Does the Royal Sea Cliff have beaches nearby?

Royal Sea Cliff is right next to the ocean but it has a very rocky beach and not suitable for play. You have to travel away from the resort to go to the beach.

We did end up with a nice ocean view unit that was recently refurbished. It helps to have a nice discussion with the front desk manager and employees. They were all very nice and so were the Wyndham 'sales tour' concierge/travel people.
