I know about the guest fees but what about the $30 transaction fee? Does this appy to Platinum owners too? Sorry, but I can't seem to find it.

Almost meaningless

The complains regarding FSP and fees almost always seem to be from the big time renters. I'm not one, never will be and don't think FSP was meant to be a renters game. VIP simply isn't worth it for what they charge to obtain it now. Buy enough points resale, cheap, and enjoy the great Wyndha FSP system. Don't sweat the few niggling fees you may pay over a decade or two.

Is that a fee applied to each and every reservation?
depending on your 'status' - some members get guest certs for free.
When I send a 'guest' to stay at my Marriott or Starwood or Cape Cod property, I call owner services and they add the friend's name to the reservation for free.

Each owner gets a free guest certificate - it's the ones after the free one you'd pay for. So how many owners need more than 1 a year? Not many. I do agree $129 is a ridiculous price - that's a full exchange fee for many systems. So while the price is outrageous it also isn't likely to affect many regular owners - only those who think timeshare is a business not a vacation plan.
Originally posted by GrayFal View PostThat certainly was a pleasant surprise - especially since the same 'privilege' using your owned points at Wyndham would have cost $99-$129 PER WEEK .Originally posted by timeos2No, only the second week and only if you booked it as two individual weeks rather than a single 14 day stay. You get one free GC each use year so at worst it would be $99 on line or $129 if you called in (why would you do that?). The horror over the fees at Wyndham is way overblown as in most cases and with just a bit of careful planning most owners won't pay the fees.Originally posted by GrayFal View PostSorry John. it annoys me and I am entitled to my feelings.
I booked a 2 day stay for my DD in STT to tag on to another week stay in STJ - and this is now going to cost me.
I own many weeks and my friends and family travel without me - so this IS going to effect how I planned to use this ownership - as being able to book 'short stays' instead of only 'traditional' full weeks.
Renting would be cheaper!
So much for 'points' flexibility.

As fix week owner will not pay any GC to use his/her week, and 129 is 5 times of old GC cost ($25). And as cancel rule changed so if you get 2 or more units at the same resort in the same week, it will automatically get cancelled unless you have different names on these units. The cancel rule changed last year.
No, it actually affects a lot more regular owners. Except they may or maynot find a way to go around it, or did not realize it at all. But it will definitely take away the idea TS is for friend and family get together. It will make their sale's more danager to get sued, and increase my risk as their shareholder.

They need to find a way to balance the act between normal user and big heavy rental user. And they need to have their support system ready. I am pretty sure if they really think it through, and look at all their data, they can find a much smooth way to make sure if someone doing business, they will pay the cost instead of paying by all owners, but at the same time, they will not kill any business that doing on top of their business. After all, their extra holiday model is built on top of the FSP model except that one has all the bending rules.
