  • What is the Wyndham Allure?

We are currently in a 2 bedroom at the Waikiki Beach Walk we got via an SFX exchange.

We are currently mainly Marriott and DVC owners and understand the II system. So, we went to the Wyndham presentation yesterday to get some info on Wyndham.

We know that you can get into Wyndham very cheaply via resale. We would never consider buying direct. The prices are ridiculous!

But what is the allure of Wyndham?

    Thanks,
    Jen

    For me, the benefits are:

    * Solid (though not exceptional) resorts in a wide variety of destinations.

    * Generally excellent availability system-wide, provided you can book at or near the beginning of the Regular window (10 months prior to check-in).

    * Exceptional value in resale purchases.

    * Good "value/bargain" trader in RCI---it doesn't see the hard-to-get weeks, but it can get you into not-so-hard weeks at a very low price point, because you can deposit low-point weeks as trade bait.

    The downsides:

    * Mid-to-high annual costs. Not DVC or (in most cases) Marriott high, but higher than Bluegreen, WorldMark, etc.

    * Capricious management of nuisance fees and features in the point system, typically to owners' detriment.

On balance, it's a mid-tier system, both in quality and annual costs, but is a susbstantial value in purchase price, putting it in a sweet spot on the cost/quality curve. Add to that the diversity in destination, and it's a nice system to own. I've been exceptionally pleased with my (resale) purchase. If I had it to do over, I'd happily purchase again.
