  • Wyndham generic RCI deposits will be searchable/reservable online in March

I just spoke with a RCI VC today and she said in March (or very shortly thereafter) Wyndham generic deposits will be searchable and will be able to be reserved online. Good news for all of us. Kendra

OHHHHHHHHH, I hope that RCI VC knows what he/she is talking about. That would be great!

That would make sense now that they want to charge more for booking on the phone.

Since the RCI VC today can search on the generic, so I am not sure the reason of hiding it. I will believe is either they can avoid accident give the generic wrong trading power, or they don't really want to reveal their trading power. But with the new way RCI displays the search result, it may no longer be an issue.

It will be great when the generic search is available to do on-line search. Hopefully, I will not see more dropping in the trading power.

I hope they can do something for Worldmark searching online like that....we have to call for availability/exchange unless we go through the hassle of trying to deposit a week of WM choosing.

I wonder if this will mean that all our Wyndham deposits will be "generic" in the future and that they will do away with what is now called "visible" deposits. With the visible deposits now it is kind of a crap shoot for trading power, you can possibly get assigned a property like LV Grand Desert that trades pretty well (a bit better than most generics or you can get assigned one like Patriots Place which trades much worse than generics. All generics are supposed to have trading power that is average across all Wyndham deposits.
If you can do on line searches with "generic" deposits what would deferenciate "generics" and "visible" deposits and why would they continue to have both. "visible" deposits are kind of a pain for them as they are not assigned automatically and need human intervention.

              search first

do you think we will still be able to do a "search first" so we can deposit the lowest value number of points to get the trade we need?

                I would think so.

I also think gophish is on to something---if this really happens, I'd guess it will be the death knell for visibles.

Is this the give to offset the take of no more points sharing?

Might even make it worth owning FF again. As long as you can still reserve a week of your choice and deposit that week.

I am sure there will be a creep up in the cost (points) to make various size room deposits. And in the cost (dollars) to make the actual exchange. That is their normal business model.

Long gone, and probably not coming back.

I'm not a FF points member but I wonder if it has anything to do with the class action settlement where one of the options is "searching first prior to depositing". This should be no different than someone depositing a week they own that is not FF points. Concept is the same

Someone I've gotten to know at Wyndham, who always was helpful in securing visible deposits for me, stated they had heard the same thing, but couldn't confirm but had heard RCI was working on setting this up.

We've owned for 10+ years and the number of points needed to make various size room deposits has not gone up at all during this time, as determined by Wyndham, not RCI or II. The exchange fees charged by the external exchange companies do increase regularly - for everyone, not just for Wyndham owners. But then, fees increase over time in the course of normal business in every industry.

The ability to search online with generics will be a true value-added measure, IMO.

I submitted requests for visible deposits: two 70k and eight 28k.
