Special Number to call RCI to make a generic exchange?
Yes, but it has nothing to do with Generic or Visible as right now you have to call if your deposit is a Generic and Visible deposits can be searched on-line. As we discussed in another thread, if they make Generic deposits searchable on line it may be the death toll for Visible deposits.
Anyway, back to your question, yes there is a number to get to a Wyndham desk at RCI, it is 1-800-572-0931.

Wyndham Atlantic City, NJ 8/7-8/14/14
Australia-New Zealand 10/15-11/2/14 (some TS some hotels)
I've seen these terms mentioned several times and haven't been able to figure out the signficance - is there a simple answer?
Thanks!
Jim
A generic deposit of points into RCI does not allow you to use RCI's online search engine to look for exchanges. You have to call RCI (through Wyndham) and have a VC assist you by telephone to do a search. The generic deposit will show up in the Supplemental Weeks under the Exchange Your Week tab.
A visible deposit of points in RCI does allow you to use RCI's online search engine to look for exchanges. The visible deposit will show up in the Deposited Weeks portion of the Exchange Your Week tab.
People who prefer to do their own searches online want a visible deposit.
How do you make it a visible deposit into RCI? I deposited points into RCI and am very disappointed that I cannot see what I can trade for.
When you log into the Wyndham Vacation Resorts website, under Membership Quick Links, click on RCI/II Deposits. You will taken to a page for making a deposit into RCI or II. There is a check box you need to check that states "I want this deposit to allow me to search availability on RCI.com"
Wyndham will seek to find a week to put into your RCI account that will show up in the Deposited Weeks that allows you to search for Exchanges. There is no guarantee that there will be any searchable weeks available in the system to give to you. For example, there are very few blue studio units in Wyndham's entire inventory so the chances of getting a visible blue studio are slim.
If there is no availability of the season and unit size you want, Wyndham will give you a generic, non-self-searchable week. When you read the form, it tells you this.
I spent hours couple of months ago as I spoke to an RCI rep. that I wanted to deposit my FF+ timeshare and be able to see them. She deposited my weeks then found I could not see them. I then called FF and talked to them about this. Spent hours with them to undo what they did. They stayed on the phone with me while I spoke to a RCI rep. then a RCI computer guy who told me that there is no way you can make your deposits visible.
So what you are telling me is that I can deposit a week through FF resorts online and if I check this tab, then I can search for weeks like all my other regular timeshare weeks. This has been a very frustrating experience for me as now, I went ahead and decided to deposit half of my points and they are doing an on going search for specfic resorts in Lake Tahoe for next year. I would prefer to see what I can trade for as far as when and where instead.

You can ask through the web. You probably end up the same. Go through web to ask does not guarantee.
And once deposit, RCI side can not make change. Only Wyndham can cancel the deposit and re-deposit it if they can somehow find a visible. But they probably will be very hesitate to do it now.
Yeah, it is too much of a hassel. I guess I will cancel my on going search and wait until March to see if I will be able to see my deposit.
Thanks to all for the information
Don't cancel it. If it happen, you can still search on the deposit that you put on on-going search. If you cancel it, and at March, nothing happen (it has been talking about for 5 years now), then when you put it to on-going search, you will be put at the bottom of the queue (although none actually know if the position of the on-going search really matter, but if you call in when you see an exchange opportunity, they usually more easy to try to match it for you).
