Wyndham Sales presentation was a joke!

I did a Wyndam sales presentation a few days ago and felt like every word coming out of their mouths was a lie. I went in there telling them that I am an unhappy Bluegreen owner, I find that making any reservation in the high, prime time is nearly impossible at most resorts. They were telling me that as a VIP I will not have ANY problems at all. Is there any truth to this? They were pressing us to buy and we ended up buying the Leisure Plan, and I don’t fell good about it. I bought 189,000 points and went to book some resorts for summer and all 3 had no availablity,

Any VIP owners have a hard time booking a few moths out? Don’t care to go on a waiting list.

Rule of thumb about timeshare sales people. If their lips are moving they are lying.

If you bought these points directly from Wyndham and you are still within your recission period DO IT NOW! Research and then buy resale. You will be a much happier timeshare owner.

You need to learn how to work these systems efficiently to make primetime reservations.

If you can rescind, do it NOW. You can always buy later on the resale market if Wyndham is what you want.

I don't know of any points-based timeshare system that will give you easy availability so close to check-in date. If you truly cannot plan more than a few months out, you may well be better off renting.

Since you are already a Bluegreen owner, you would have been better off adding to your points. Buy more points from a Bluegreen reseller (lower cost than through BG) and and you will be at one of the higher Premier levels with earlier access to the reservation. That way, you can put in for your resort before the lower levels. You can be one of those getting the resort at prime week.

In timeshare, in order to get the unit type and dates you want, you really need to book several months in advance. Otherwise you'll find most of the desirable availability already booked by others before you. There are no timeshare systems that allow you to book only a few months out and find decent availability. With timeshare systems it's the rule of FIRST-COME-FIRST-SERVED. If you wait until the last minute (3 or 4 months) you'll be hard pressed to book anything desirable.

Now, having said that, there are people who can find great value in last minute bookings. But those are people who can be very flexible with their travel plans, don't have their heart set on one destination and, generally don't have to travel during peak or high season. For instance, we go to Branson frequently but, it's almost always spring, fall or winter rather than summer. I can book great resorts using almost nothing as an exchange unit by making my exchanges last minute. On the other hand, if we want to go in July, peak travel time for Branson, and I want a decent resort and a 2 bedroom or larger unit, I need to book further out than last minute. With the timeshares I own in Branson, that means 9 to 12 months in advance to get that prime summer week.

As others have said, cancel this contract now. If they told you you'd have no problems booking whatever you wanted on short notice, you've been lied to again. Take you time and start reading these forums. Learn what will work for you and what wont' work for you. If you can't make plans more than 3 or 4 months in advance chances are timeshare isn't going to work well for you.

I agree with the others - if you can't plan at least 11 months in advance, it's doubtful Bluegreen would have ever worked for you and it's not likely another system will.

One question as concerns bluegreen - did you ever try bonus time and if so, was that any better for you? It's made for short-notice stays.

Bottom line, if you want prime time/prime location, you are best off owning that week.

GET OUT NOW! You are paying to much for your vacations!!! I sold these things for 2 years in Myrtle Beach SC, and believe me when I tell you, TIMESHARE IS A RIP-OFF. There are EASIER and CHEAPER ways to see the world and vacation the way you want to. We had a saying on the T/S track i worked on...The only way to sell a timeshare...IS TO LIE! I felt like a crook after every sale and luckily I was able to return to my true passion (I am a chef).

I m a Wyndham resale point owner, yet to get know how this thing works, but I was told...if I remember well and it was not just a scam to get me buy a whole lot of points....
VIP starts at 308,000pts/annual..?
So the 189,000 would not get VIP any way...
So much for trusting them...

They probably gave him bonus points for 1 year to get him to VIP. After year 1, you are back to your normal plan.
I did something really stupid last week. Yup, I bought another TS from Wyndham. Revocation letter to decline the contract went out today, within the time period! My wife and I are looking at each other saying "what the heck were we thinking!!!" We know better, and we still fell for the dog and pony show. And I agree with the statement "if their lips are moving, they are lying...". This guy at Grand Smokies Lodge lied through his teeth to us about our property, etc... We will NEVER take another meeting at Wyndham, NEVER!

Spineless sales people at Wyndham!!!!!!

Just checked in at Glacier Canyon, Wisconsin Dells....
Next morning a friendly welcome visit from the sales office.....
I new they are scammers, however just for the heck of it,
I did agree on my own free will, without any incentives to go to an ownerupdate,
Offer was 105,000 pts, EY with a $730 HOA for a sum of $17,000.
He, TRENT was saying this would give me VIP status.
Combined with my resale.....points. What a crock!
And some redicoulus add ons...

I did not know, Wyndham is combining points from resale, via e-bay $1
and developer $17,000....

Do not buy Wyndham!!!! Nor resale, nor developer!

Run as fast as you can from them!!!!

I own Wyndham, am happy owning Wyndham (for the most part), and am now wise enough to know to avoid their sales people unless I want something from them. I've stayed at beautiful resorts and enjoyed wonderful, attentive service from their staff, and only have my phone plugged in when I have a need for it. I get my parking pass, but turn down any and all offers for updates, unit satisfaction surveys, etc. and have a wonderful time on my vacations.

Ditto on purchasing points through the secondary market, they are typically pennies on the dollar. Good luck with it!

Great Advise

Unplug the phone... great advise! Well, while in Las Vegas once, security did call the room to tell me that I had left my GPS up and on in the car. But I think this experience has taught me to just say no. Appreciate all the advise.
