  • What can I do with Wyndham points that I can not do now?????

I currently own weeks and have used them to trade with SFX, DAE, and Platinum. I have NEVER used RCI or II.

I am being offered 126K Wyn points. She says she can give me either II or RCI and she has multiple accounts.

    What should I ask?

What could I do with those that I can not do now with the smaller X change companies?

Should I go RCI or II.

Thanks for any and all advice.

A small point package like that will not get u much directly from Wyndham (7 nights at my fav Bluebeard's Beach Club STT!). MFs can also vary from $4.25ish to $7+ per 1K so a package that is priced around $5 per 1K is considered a good one.

The newer resorts require 250-300K +points to get a unit in prime time .

I have my points tied to II - but I would say most owners go with RCI. II has the Marriott, Starwood/Westin and other high quality resorts that I like Until recently, I was able to exchange into DVC thru II - now I will have to settle for Marriotts

126K can be deposited as 4 28K studios, 2 63K 1BRs, 1 77K 2BR plus 2 28K studios - if you are short a few points - they can be purchased directly from Wyndham for $10 per 1K. So for a MF of under $700 (hopefully) you can get 2-4 weeks of vacation a year.

An example of this is that I stayed in a 3BR unit at The Resort at South Shore in early Sept - Interval International | Resort Directory WorldMark South Shore and The Resort at South Shore
If I reserved thru Wyndham - it would have cost me 300K points high season (we actually were given a presidential unit = 360K)
    I traded in thru II using a 1BR 63K deposit ......

    I love my Wyndham Points

A negative for some owners who own a LOT of points - is that Wyndham has recently stated they will no longer allow owners to 'transfer' points from one owner to another - not selling the contract but giving another owner your points to use for the year - but with a small contract like yours, this would not be a problem as u would be using all your points each year. They have also raised their 'guest certificate fee' to $99 - again, not an issue with you and a small contract - even resale owners get one free guest cert per year.

Wyndham points are, at best, medicore traders in RCI. They will not get you the "good stuff" (Manhattan Club, DVC, etc.) However, the small-point weeks (28K/70K) give very low-cost access to shoulder/low time, over-deposited areas, internal trades to Wyndham properites, or last-minute exchanges.

I'm told that they do better in II, but I have no experience there.

For me, the real benefit of them is for booking interally---most resorts have good availability, especially if you can plan 10 months prior to travel. The system is quite flexible. Costs can vary, but seem to be "middle of the road." The resorts are nice, comfortable, but not generally "luxurious."

I own both Wyndham points and a week with Silverleaf. I use my Silverleaf for exchanges through RCI. I only use my Wyndham points to travel to Wyn resorts. I have so far only stayed at 4 different Wyn resorts but I liked them all very much. One real advantage of the points system is that you can have shorter stays. I don't always have a full week to travel. It's true that a smaller number of points (under 200,000) won't get you a full week at some of the newer resorts, especially in prime time. But I really love the flexibility of the point system and the resorts themselves.

Ask where the points are located, which resorts. Are they UDI points or a fixed week converted to points? What are the maintenance fees?
With those points you could reserve a short stay at a Wyndham resort in prime season or a full week in a 2BR at several resorts in the off season without paying an exchange fee. Some of the older resorts have 1BR prime weeks for about 105K. You might be able to spread them further in the off season since Wyndham sometimes offers off season points discounts even to non-VIPs. You can rent points from Wyndham so that you could reserve a week during prime season. For a fee, you can put your points in the Points Credit Pool (before their Use Year starts) and save them for a future date. You can then combine more than one year's points to make a reservation.
And you can deposit them in RCI as described above. Wyndham points are good, but not excellent, traders. RCI has more total resorts available, II has more high end resorts available.

I thought that Wyndham would be one of the best traders. Why are they not and what are the best traders.

I must have asked a tough question.

Or you just haven't spent much time reading. This has been oft-discussed.

The short version: a wyndham points owner cannot choose a week to deposit. They either get the average of all similar size/season deposits (and so, an "average" trader), or they get a specific week deposited by wyndham assigned to them at random. But wyn tends to deposit only things not in high demand internally, and that means its not in high demand, period. Again---mediocre trade value.

You need to give definition of best trader. For example, Bluegreen can allow you to deposit to RCI week more cheaper, but does not mean you will get more trading power.

Some SA week are pretty cheap MFwise, and for a while, they have very decent trading power. Than in one weekend, RCI make an upgrade and kill the trading power for a while. Now it may get back a little.

Now, nobody talks about the trading power in public. since RCI may just change it.

You could get a summer beach front week and that will be pretty good trader, on the other hand, it will be foolish to trade it.

Wyndham is not, because RCI don't think they are. And with its number of member, strict control of deposit, it is very hard to say RCI is not right here. And consider all its new resorts cause a lot more internally exchange, it is very hard to see a manage group deposit them to RCI if there is no particular reason that benefit them. So it probably will not become decent easily.
