He was from the Minneapolis area, so we are getting it on the local news. Awful thing to go for a nice week away to be woken by the police giving you the news.

It certainly hits a little harder when you have been there before. We stayed there on a last minute deal with RCI back in December 2006. It's still the nicest place we've been to, as far as the accomodation goes. I have to admit though, I hate heights and I remember looking up when we arrived and I said to my wife I hope we aren't to high up, and luckily we were only 2 floors above the multi story carpark.

It's a real tragedy though and being a father of two, I can't begin to think how the family must feel.

I've been there many, many times as well as it's close enough to me for a last minute wknd getaway.. There is nothing unusually dangerous about the balconies, but it always does scare me when the kids are out there. I'm not sure who scares me more- the toddler or the teen.... One doesn't know any better, and the other is convinced nobody knows better than she does... We always keep the entrance locked unless we are out there with them, but even then it worries me.. The kids will think I've really lost it next time we are there..

The same thing happened at the Nassau Crystal Palace a few years ago. Tragic.

I heard it on our local news early this morning. They said it was thought that he stacked a couple of patio chairs on top of each other for a better view of the sunrise.
Whatever the cause, how terribly sad.

                That is so sad.

A couple of weeks ago when we were at Disneyworld in Orlando and exiting the monorail at Epcot, we saw some teens sitting on the railing. It's quite a drop to the pavement below. I told my husband all it would take would be a slight shift in balance and backwards they would go.

You would have to be standing on something as those balcony railing are decently high enough.

                  That is sad though.
