  • Wyndham Bentley Brook Question

We just acquired 175,000 pts at BB resale, basically for assuming ongoing MFs. I would hope for closing to complete in 90 days - by Aug 1st. As part of the deal, we get 175,000 points for 2009 and another 175,000 January 1st. This is my first Wyndham purchase and I am new to the system, but not the resort. We have traded to be there for New Years week for each of the last two years.

    1) Is there any way to use the 2009 points in 2010? Ideally, I'd like to reserve a 2BR unit Jan 17-18 (39,200 points) and Feb 14-15 (45,200 pts).

    2) Ideally, I'd like a 2BR unit for 5 days Dec 26 to Jan 1 for 113,000 points. I assume there is less than a zero chance of getting that.

Who and what number do I call to deposit to RCI?

Since I own 175,000 points, must all be deposited at one time to RCI?

What amount of points makes a trade for a 2BR unit say in Williamsburg for Summer 2010?

I greatly appreciate your help and advice!!!

Mark has answered most your questions at tug. For Williamsburg, I have seen some deposit with 28k and 70k. Depends on how RCI define the quality of the resorts I guess, you see more with 70k. Not sure if RCI will change the pattern of deposit since the economic situation is different. But I will either deposit 28k if I can accept a big range of resorts or 70k.

Your only chance to preserve your 2009 points is find some short trip in 2009 internally, or deposit to RCI or check with DAE or SFX or other exchange company to see which 2009 week they still accept after the transfer completed. At this moment, BB at X'Mas is all gone, you may have chance to get one for 2010 X'Mas.

Since you live in New York, you may want to visit RI for a weekend trip. Or Shawnee for Fall color. And deposit the rest to RCI after you set your trip. You can do them using Wyndham's website or just call their VC.

        Thanks guys!

I posted at both sites to get the widest response. The most detailed information on Tug came after I already posted on TS4MS.

My questions have indeed been answered. I will deposit two 70K blocks with RCI as soon as everything clears and accounts are setup.

No problem, I saw Mark's answer and don't think I can add more. But after re-read it, I notice you asked for RCI exchange also.

With 175k, you can take 2 free transactions and one 2BD trip (77 HK) plus 2 RCI 70k deposit (28HK each, total 56HK). It will left you 42 free HK. You can do that all in the same transactions, just in case later on you change your mind on the internal trip, you can still have 1 freetransaction credit left for re-book different one if you want to.

Thanks! I assume HK stands for housekeeping points. So I can reduce my 175,000 BB UDI Points to 175 HK points.

The best I can do is two nights Week 52 last minute. Otherwise, I'm all booked for 2009. So my best use of points is to deposit them with RCI. I want to trade for Summer weeks at Powhatan in Williamsburg.
Is 70k RCI points enough for that?

So I can buy 70k RCI points with 28K HK points?? What's the next increment up and its cost in HK points?

              Yes, HK is HouseKeep credit. 28 (Stdio), 63 (1BD), 77 (2BD)

RCI exchange mostly is depended on the RCI opened for exchanger. For overbuild area, 2 years ago, 28k deposit (blue Stdio) used to be enough. Now, when I talk to RCI VC, they will ask for 70K deposit (red stdio) if you plan to match a good resort (in RCI's mind) even in overbuild area. But if 70k is not enough, other deposit at this moment is not enough also.

Also, don't forget, 70k if count MF $5 per 1K, is already over $500 (plus exchange fee). The next is 105k (red 1 BD) which although has some effect, usually not show in area where a lot of deposit happens, such as Williamsburg. And to put 154k (red 2BD, or $900 per week stay), I will just go renting route, much more flexible, better selections, and better control with prob. just a few extra dollars.
