I am looking to go to hawaii and never been there. Do not know where to book or fly into. Any suggestions would be very helpfull.
We are an older couple with no kids. Can you tell me any good of bad at any resorts they you stay in would be appreciated, and what is the best time of year to go. THANKS IN ADVANCE! Theresa

What do you like to do? Each island has its own personality.

All of the islands I've been to (Kauai, Maui, Oahu, and Hawaii) have great weather, snorkeling, and dining. I don't know Lanai or Molokai. Any inclusive comments below are about the four I've visited.

If you like busy nightlife, go to Oahu.

If you like things more easy-going, and love to hike, you can't beat Kauai.

Maui has some of the nicest resorts (although each island will have at least one), and Lahaina is a nice "little town" experience.

The Big Island has a little bit of everything. Plus Volcanoes Nat'l Park.

    Regards,

I'm booked for my first ever visit to Hawaii this coming October. We are at the Wyndam Kona Hawaiian Resort on the Big Island (its #5971 if you are in RCI).
The units are built in traditional 1800's Hawaiian theme and whilst close to the beach is also close to major shopping areas, nightlife and the Kona International Airport.
I did quite a bit of research on various review sites and most reports are very favourable.
I've just checked RCI availability and there is space September and October but since you are a Wyndam owner you probably get more to chose from.
As for time of year to travel I don't know the weather for Hawaii but I think the weather pattern is the same as the Caribean so it may be the rainy season when I go, in October.

      Good Luck

we have stayed two times already at the Kona Hawaiian Resort and will choose there again next year..- we are retired too - and really like it there - so much to do on the island, or just take it easy there -- read the reviews at TUG , you will see that each unit is 2 BD, large, lanai dining,

I have pics if you are interested

We've only been to Kauai and would recomend it. Princeville on the North or Poipu on the South. Kapaa or or Lihue as third choice.
