  • Wyndham Floating Week vs Points System

I'm not familiar with the Wyndham product. If I buy a floating week at a Wyndham resort that is not points based.....

    1. Is there an internal exchange program (within the Wyndham properties) for those without points? What's the cost?

    2. Can I let a friend use the week without paying for a guest certificate?

    3. If I put my week into San Francisco Exchange, will there be a guest fee that I have to pay?

    4. What are the disadvantages to buying a week that is not points based?

    Thanks....

Buy a fixed week where and when you want to go. Anything else (points or floating) weeks is a lottery. If the TS is both weeks and converted points by Wyndham the prime weeks owners most likely have not converted and all you will have is a choice of dogs(no explaination needed).

      1. There is a program for internal exchange that including only some resorts that was old Wyndham. Not all the resorts that is week system participant it. And there is limited deposit on it. Chances are, you will be better using other system.

      2. That is resort by resort base. But I know at least 2 resorts managed by Wyndham does not charge for GC.

      3. As resort not charge you any GC, your deposit to SFX will not require GC. But they do have some restriction on which resort and when the week is.

      4. Not much if the resort is where you want to go and you know it very well so if you don't want to go, you know how to deal with it. But a point base allows you to take split vacation, and give you more choices on different resorts.

Which ones are they? Also, are you allowed at least one guest certificate a year no matter whether you have points or not? I'm a little confused about the guest certificates. If I can get one guest certificate each year, then it's not an issue for me since I'm only going to buy one week (at least I don't think so....I already own 5 weeks elsewhere LOL).

I checked the SFX list and the one I'm interested in is listed in their directory and I believe it's a red week.

The resort is where I want to go or have friends who want to go there. If they can go without additional costs, then that will be great.

Patriot's place is one. Altantic Beach when they was managed by Wyndham was another. I will believe all the old Equivest resort has similar policy since AB is one of them, which means all the RI resort will not charge you GC. Not sure about the New Orlando or PAHIO's resort.

I believe GC is not norm for most of the week resort. Exchanged one usually can charge you GC. And in Wyndham's point system case, it is close to a extension of exchange.

If you know the place, and unit, than the week will be better. That is assume you can find it to start with.

Thank you, Jya-Ning, for your reply. It was managed by Equivest.
