OK. I'm having a battle in my head of why I did this!!
What's the downside of owning a right to use property that never expires?
I ended up buying an annual leasehold (does not expire) floating week (1-7, 10-16, 19-51) at Wyndham Avenue Plaza in New Orleans (NO) for $1 on eBay. New Orleans is a place I like to visit and I have family and friends who can also use it. I put my niece's name on the title but I probably should have added two more names for more flexibility.
I own at Carlsbad Seapointe Resort (2), and Powell Place and Suites at Fisherman's Wharf (2) in San Francisco....which are all deeded properties. This last purchase is my cheapest so far in terms of price and maintenance fees. I always pay my maintenance fees on time. When I do anticipate using my weeks, I put it in SFX.
However, I've never bought a right to use property. Since the lease on this purchase never expires, what is the downside of right to use? Other than the fact that I have now have 5-1/2 (one odd week) weeks.
Was it better to have bought Wyndham points?
