  • Annual Leasehold (does not expire) Floating Week

OK. I'm having a battle in my head of why I did this!!
What's the downside of owning a right to use property that never expires?

I ended up buying an annual leasehold (does not expire) floating week (1-7, 10-16, 19-51) at Wyndham Avenue Plaza in New Orleans (NO) for $1 on eBay. New Orleans is a place I like to visit and I have family and friends who can also use it. I put my niece's name on the title but I probably should have added two more names for more flexibility.
I own at Carlsbad Seapointe Resort (2), and Powell Place and Suites at Fisherman's Wharf (2) in San Francisco....which are all deeded properties. This last purchase is my cheapest so far in terms of price and maintenance fees. I always pay my maintenance fees on time. When I do anticipate using my weeks, I put it in SFX.
However, I've never bought a right to use property. Since the lease on this purchase never expires, what is the downside of right to use? Other than the fact that I have now have 5-1/2 (one odd week) weeks.
Was it better to have bought Wyndham points?

Unless you plan on living forever I think you might be happy that you are relieved of the obligation in some point in time to New Orleans. In the meantime enjoy it.

I own my Disney DVC as a number of years only too and honestly it is not going to make a difference in my lifetime. I think I'll be about 90 when it expires so I doubt I'll be wanting to go to Disney every year by then. Unless of course Disney opens a retirement community that takes DVC points.

Can't tell you if owning Wyndham points is better than a deeded week since I just purchased points myself and have yet to close. I am looking forward to it though. Of course you could always go back on ebay and buy a biennial points package from Wyndham to keep your fees low.

Some people may at certain point want to out from TS. but if you plan to use it until the last day, Your estate or heir will have to deal with it. It is the same as deed week.
