  • 2 exchanges for 1 week deposit

This was posted on another TS Board - and with the blessing of the OP, I am sharing it here.

He says that II has a non-published, non-advertized policy that allows people to book a second exchange from a deposit by paying only a second, full priced, exchange fee. Here are the rules:

    1. Your second week booked can only be as large as the week you deposit. (no 2 bedrooms from a one bedroom deposit on the second week).

    2. No holiday weeks, Four Seasons, or Westin's in Hawaii can be booked as the second week.

    3. The second week is currently only bookable for travel through 2010.

    4. Available inventory is computer controlled and usually limited to off-season weeks for which they have tons of inventory. Las Vegas and Orlando are available all year long.

    5. You can book the second week even after you booked your primary exchange week so long as the arrival date of the primary exchange week you booked hasn't passed yet.

Just to test him out, using a small one bedroom SDO deposit that I had already booked a 2 bedroom at WKORV-N for this summer, I was able to also book a large one bedroom at WKV for a week in November without depositing another week and by only paying a $149 (full priced, no-SVO discount) exchange fee. Awesome!

He said that since he gets points for all weeks he books, he's more than happy to have me post his contact information here.

PM me ..... I'll PM you back this II agent's contact info and work schedule so you too can enjoy the bounty of II.

LOL, I did edit this slightly to take out the request for Lawyer jokes!

I actually did this a few years ago when I needed a 2BR at a Marriott in Palm Springs - when my unit would only pull a 1BR I was able to get a studio by paying a second exchange fee....

    Anyway, good info to know.

I deposited a two bedroom unit and the only thing that showed up were one bedroom and studio units. I was able to get one of each by paying two exchange fees. I thought it was because I deposted a two bedroom and what I was getting were two bedrooms.

Well then I should have booked that stinking Studio at Ko'Olina that had my same dates.

In the past that has been the case - but now it seems you can have an entirely different second exchange such as nodge described.

Apparently not every agent is aware of this but now that you KNOW, you can take advantage of this..... if the agent doesn't know, call back and get a different VC or ask for the person to check with their supervisor

Nothing was said that you can not call now and get a second exchange based on the last one you did, correct?

This doesn't make sense in view of II's new A/C policy, which has me jumping ship to begin with. Though it's true for Short Stays, so maybe they're doing it with low demand/high supply inventory.

The OP got a second week in Hawaii - that seems pretty good location wise.

And what is II new AC policy....you have mentioned this before - are u talking about the postcards and not listing on the website???

                      Good for the OP!

I will start a new thread on the A/Cs, I thought there was one.

The OPs second week was a Nov week in Arizona at the Westin Kierland, which is offseason. His first week (normal exchange) was the Hawaii week

My understanding of the 2 fer deal is that you can book a second exchange for just an additional fee without a second deposit but the second exchange is restricted. No 4 Seasons, no prime times, etc. Orlando, Las Vegas, Branson & Williamsburg are all up for grabs. You must have already made a deposit and exchange that has not been used yet. Points accounts are not eligible (ieRI, Worldmark et al.)

For just a second fee, you get a second week. Great Deal! Better than an AC.

In Phoenix, Platinum season goes from October thru April, I have a friend who owns at the Marriott there. No, it is not February but still a nice time.

Yes, there are restrictions.....but as catwgrl stated, getting the second half of a 2BR when your deposit is only seeing 1BRs is also another strategy worth mentioning again.

I was able to do it with an early April Marriott Shadow Ridge exchange a few years ago - they won't offer it but if you ask, you can usually get this.

And I wonder if this is newly advertised instead of pushing the ACs as they once did.
In my mind, if you are making a 1 or 2BR deposit, this is a better deal.
Exception would be people who used a lot of ACs for the 60 day window to get PRIME resorts/locations.
