Am trying to figure out the II request first...We are ending our 26 year RCI membership and so have not done a "request first". Do you have to pay up-front to place this type of request? How far in advance of travel date can you request? Must you request more than one resort, or more than one travel date? Thanks!

Hi Sherry,
I'm not an II expert but when I have played with it,
You can see what is available online before you exchange.
There is no fee to search first, but from what I understand from the II veterans you get better matches with ongoing searches because the inventory you see online are the left overs after the ongoing search matches have been matched.
Hope this helps.

A request first exchange means that you don't actually give up your week until a match is found. You can cancel the exchange request anytime up to the time a match is found (even after a match is found you still have 24 hours to reject the match). You pay the fee when you make the request but the charge is refunded if you cancel it.
There has been much discussion as to whether a request first or deposit has better trade power. II's official response is that there is no difference and, to my knowledge, no one has been able to prove otherwise.
The advantage of a deposit first is that you can request an exchange two years in advance, whereas with a request first, you are limited to one year. I believe that on a request first, if a match hasn't been found by 59 days before the week you have deposited, you have the option to cancel the request or convert it to a deposit exchange.
