  • What to Deposit in II for European Trip

We are planning a trip to Europe for 3 adults in May 2012 and are considering London or Athens. We own at DRI Ka'anapali Beach Club (KBC) in Maui.

We have never used Interval and have several questions. What views and week would be best to deposit in Interval for a timeshare trade in one of these cities? Does KBC have enough trading power for a trade to Europe?

Thanks for your help in advance. I would appreciate any help you can provide.

Considering Interval has no timeshares in Athens that exchange won't happen. London is also extremely difficult and expecially in late spring or summer. I am not sure Interval even has a timeshare there. I know they used to have Sloan Gardens but I think that is no longer affiliated.

You may be better off seeing off looking at SFX IF they will take what you have for deposit.

Nope....II does not have a timeshaire in London. Also, II does not take into account "views," so that is not important when you make a deposit.

I tend to agree that SFX may be the better choice here.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

They used to have Sloan Garden Court and Carlton Court, both in London, but Sloan Garden Court trades now with SFX, and DRI closed and sold off Carlton Court.

        For the OP:

For London, I would suggest checking with SFX and DAE, although it is a hard trade with anyone.

I believe that Hapimag is the only resort group with a property in Athens. Hapimag mostly trades internally, but does also trade through DAE and DRI. They do not offer all of their resorts to either, although I have seen a fair amount of inventory from another Hapimag resort in Greece at DAE.

For Athens, IMHO the ancient sites are fabulous but after that you can see all that is worth seeing there in a few hours. I would allocate a day or two for Athens rather than a whole week. I would suggest getting a timeshare in Corfu or Rhodes or Crete for a week and then adding a couple of days in Athens on the front or end of that week.

DAE and SFX are both free to join, and their exchange fees are less than II or RCI. With DAE you can do a request first without putting down a deposit with the free membership. SFX also has request first but only with a paid membership.

It's unanimous. I was also going to suggest SFX. Although they say it's a very difficult exchange to get Sloane Gardens, it does become available. I even snagged a week there from their sell-off list for a friend of mine.

SFX personnel are very helpful on the phone so feel free to call them. I think a winter week at your resort has the highest value, but they can confirm. Full disclosure - I have a request in with SFX for your resort for winter 2011.

You might also call DRI and see if they can arrange a trade for you through Hapimag. Hapimag has its own resorts in both London and Athens. I have read on a European timeshare board that Hapimag was giving DRI inventory in Prague, so maybe they will also give London or Athens. It is worth a try. For a look at the Hapimag resorts, go to www.hapimag.com and look under ''addresses''. It looks like their London property at Hyde Park has 45 units, studios, 1BR, and 2BR while their Athens property has 16 units, 1&2 BR at the foot of the Accropolis.

Yes, as a matter of fact....as a courtesy to my fellow owners at my home resorts.....I always request the less exciting view when I am going to exchange (the Garden view for my Hawaii properties). Yes, I like to get a good view when I exchange into places, but I feel that my fellow owners in Hawaii should have first dibs for the Ocean View units, so I give them that courtesy. II doesn't care.
