  • Interval called twice tonight

Yep, Interval called twice tonight, within ten minutes. The first time the guy said, "Your membership is expiring next year. I see that you joined with a special promotion, two years for $84. I would like to offer you the opportunity to renew for two years now."

I said, reaching for my credit card, "At $84 for two years?"

He said, "Oh, no. That was a special promotion. That is no longer in effect. I can offer you two years for $178."

I said, "No, thanks." He hung up.

Ten minutes later, another guy calls and says, "Your membership is expiring next year. Our rates went up in January. I would like to offer you the old price, three years for $219."

I said, "Another guy just called and offered me two years for $178. That didn't seem like much of a deal."

    He said, "No, it's not."

    I said, "I think I'll wait, thanks."

    He said, "Okay."

That was it. Didn't Interval used to wheel and deal??? Honestly, I'm totally on the fence about renewing.

those 2 year deals are a promo that is added to the account. It is hard to get that offer unless you were targeted.

So you don't think anything will change if I just keep waiting? My membership doesn't run out till August 2011.

          Got the deal again!!!

I waited and last month received the two for 1 deal of $84 which I have been offered about every six months. Although my last two for 1 had my membership extended to November 2012 I extended to November 2014 as I also wanted to add another resort that I recently purchased without having to pay the $39 fee to add a resort.

I don't have my promo code anymore as I threw it out after I extended.

They just called AGAIN, but I was on a work call so I didn't pick up to hear what they're offering now.

I guess they must. I wonder what I did to trigger all this attention. I guess it's just that my membership expires in August 2011.

I had my offer last year from my resort and when calling was told no by II agent. Said it was for new owners only so I called the resort II agent at the resort and was told he would call II about it. Later had call back telling me II would be calling me and this call never happened.

I dropped the Gold Membership late last year and called and e-mailed II back and fourth for months and was always told we will look into it with no father response from them. I called one last time on July first and explained again the offer made to me and being refused when I called for my two for one deal and the fact the resort II person called them also. The supervisor told me she would checkin to it and call me later that day and no call back again.

My membership has now closed and no plans to renew again. While up at our resort for July 4th week we sold one of the units to another owner. Now only owning one week we would never exchange so only use of II would have been for Getaways which we have never used.

Its strange how they make these offers to others but in almost eight months of having offer refused and jerked around by II and their agents and last time by a supervisor they watched us leave II because of very poor business.

We have received three e-mails still asking for us to renew and offers of AC but not one fixing the problem.

Exchange companies seem to be pretty poorly run in general.

I'm sorta on the fence. With all the shenanigans that Sheraton did to control deposits of my non-network units I'm no longer using II for exchanges using those reservations. I gave the ones I won't use myself to SFX and got 5 very nice bonus weeks. I have already used 2 for some places I wanted next year. II never gives bonus weeks (ACs) for Sheraton deposits so this was a plus. I've been depositing with TPI a lot lately, too. I like the mid-level resorts that TPI can always get for me. My II membership has a couple of years left on a 3 year renewal offer I got last year. I know I won't be renewing since I hardly ever use II anymore. I have one more short stay available that doesn't expire until 2012 and one XYZ exchange for this November to Vegas. I think I'll just let my membership run out and see if they ever call me.

RCI never called me....ever. I joined for 2 years and never heard a peep outa them. That membership was a total waste. Never booked a single thing.

I use RCI much more than II b/c we like to stay pretty near home, which means the northeast, and RCI has so much more in the area.

We want to stay close to home, too, and that's why I never found anything I could use at RCI. Nothing in California ever shows up on that last minute thingie but II has plenty of last minute out here and lots of great Getaways for less than the MF at western timeshares.

They called again tonight! The woman went through her Interval spiel and then said, "Did we call you earlier today?"

I said, "Yes, and twice yesterday."

She said, "Are you freaking kidding me?"

I said, "No, I am not freaking kidding you! And they're all making the same crummy offers! I want the two-for-one deal!"

She was laughing, but she said she would make a note to send us that deal next August. So that would be nice if we get it.
