  • Trading a confirmed exchange week?

I am aware that Interval's policy does not allow for the renting of exchanged vacation weeks. However, are there any specific restrictions on trading a confirmed exchange for a different week with a private owner? I realize that a guest certificate would be required.

I have a confirmed week that I may not be able to use and wanted to pursue all my options before cancelling. However I don't want to violate any restrictions.

    Thanks.

My thoughts on this is since there is no money changing hands, there is no reason why you can't get a guest certificate and allow your friend to stay/use your exchange.
If your friend who owns at the resort allows you to use their week, that is just fine as long as they follow the procedure to do this. With Marriott, I just call them directly and add my friends name to the resie . With Wyndham, I have to pay for a guest certificate to allow a friend to use MY week

II's rules would also prevent you trading the confirmed week.

      From the T&Cs:

"The Host Accommodations may be used only for personal and noncommercial purposes. Members are expressly prohibited from exchanging or renting the Host Accommodations..."

II does allow for cancellation and will give you a replacement week. Or, if you find something online you'd rather have, you can do a "retrade" on the phone.

We're way past the point of this being a suitable topic for open discussion.

Thanks. I think it best to cancel my week and get the one year replacement.

As I remember you can cancel and get a replacement but that week can only be used to book something within 60 days of check in.
