Am I being unreasonable?

It's not exactly "free." The fee for Platinum membership at SFX ($259 when I last inquired, though it's been a while and I can't find it on their website) is a good deal higher than regular membership for II or RCI. There are additional benefits for Platinum members, some of which are available to all RCI and II members (such as the ability to request further out than 1 year), some which are not, and others that are of little significance to some members. If I were to upgrade in size at SFX more than once a year, or use at least two sell-off weeks at $100 off for Platinum members, it would be worth the Platinum membership, but that doesn't fit my recent user history. I used to be a Platinum member, but let it go when the fees went up.

That is not true. The fee for the SFX Platinum Plus membership is $299 for 3 years ( $100 /year ), $399 for 5 years ( $79 /year ), and $599 for 10 years ( $59 /year ).

You are referring to the Platinum Rewards program which is a 3rd party program offered by SFX and others like VRI. It includes the cruise benefits.
