  • Has anyone traded into DVC using Bluegreen---and what resorts did you use?

I've just joined II and I'm looking to try my hand at trading into DVC using some of my Bluegreen inventory. I was just wondering if anyone has done this before, and what are the best resorts and dates to use.

    Thanks.

Yes, I have used an accommodation certificate that I got for depositing a Christmas Mountain Village white week into II about 3 months in advance of check in.

I did get the unit during the flexchange period. It was an Old Key West 2 bedroom unit for March 18-25, perfect for my kids' Spring Break this year. So, I am not sure if I could have gotten it outside of the flexchange period.

There is a very easy way to find out, though. When you sign up for an II account, they allow you to register at least one resort for a search requests. Whatever you do, DO NOT EXCHANGE with that unit. Because if you do, the search function will go away and you will have to wait until next year to use it again.

Just use it for searching to test trading power. When you see what you want by searching with a specific week, then book that equivalent Bluegreen week and deposit that unit first. Then, exchange with that unit. In this way, you will be able to keep your floating week for searching first.

I don't know for sure, but I'll bet that Lodge Alley Inn has about the strongest trading power in II. It is 5*, it's listed as a limited availabilty resort, it receives an accommodation certificate for a long period of time and it is highly desirable. There may be more demand for Shorecrest I, though, since it is right on the beach in a very nice area. But, it isn't 5*. I'd love to do a Bluegreen trade test together if we can pull enough weeks together to try it. Then, we will know for sure which resorts have the highest trading power.

      Boca,

I'm confused and slightly concerned, because when I registered with II last night they asked me if I had a floating week and I told them I had Bluegreen points so I could book at multiple resorts. She seemed fine with that response and told me she keyed in "Bluegreen Vacation Club". I asked to make sure that I wouldn't have to add other resorts at a fee later and she told me "no".

Could you explain the search feature that you're talking about? Did I blow it by not registering at least one resort?

Is there anyway to find out what's floating around the flexchange pool without committing a week? If I need to use a "high quality week" to get a unit that's fine, but as you and I have talked about before, if I can get away with a cheap blue week then all the better.

BTW, she told me that I couldn't have any access to the II website or services for at least a week, so I'm still sort of running blind as to what to expect from the II system and how flexchange works.

Relax. Breath in, breathe out..... LOL.

There isn't anything in timesharing that can't be fixed if done in time. It starts with the 5 or 7 day period of recission. ROFL.

Let's wait until you get online access and then see what you get when you do a search. When you do a search in II, you first select the search criteria and then you pick a unit type. You will either pick a fixed week or a floating week. Floating weeks are great because you can search a whole range of weeks to test trading power.

If you do not get a floating week selection option, just call II back and tell them that you need to register a floating week option to show up in your account. I would ask for Lodge Alley Inn and a few others like Shorecrest I and Falls Village.

The one thing I wish Bluegreen would do is negotiate a Bluegreen interface into II which just uses a certain number of points for each type of exchange whether it be a studio, 1br, 2br, 3br or flexchange. That is what WorldMark and other mini-systems have.

Before they do that, they need to build up a set of 5* resorts that are desirable by II exchangers. This isn't Bluegreen's current focus. So, it's not likely to happen anytime soon.

You will know right away if they set you up with a floating week option. If they didn't, just call them up and ask for one. Just don't ever exchange with it like I did my first year. I had to wait a whole year before I got it back.

Glad you're getting a good laugh from my torment. LOL

After re-reading your previous post I think I understand what you mean about putting in a floating week to do a search and using another week to actually deposit and exchange. I'll just call up later and get them to add a floating week search to my account.

Now the painful part comes in waiting for II to process my membership and give me an access number. Thanks for all your help and info. I really do appreciate it. We've been in timesharing all of about 10 months and this is the first exchange that we've tried. There are so many mistakes to make and so little time. LOL
