  • Newbie Timeshare Owner - so confused!!

Okay I've done research but just can't figure this crap out. I bought a timeshare at Kings Creek Plantation, for odd years 3 bedroom cottage on a floating week. I also think I have the yellow program which means I can only book 60 days and less into the reservation.

What does the yellow really mean?
With II, I'm not really sure how that will affect me.
Is the ICE program really for cruises? They gave us unlimited weeks w/ ICE.

    Help... Thanks.

How long ago did you purchase? If you can cancel, rescind now

If you just bought, rescind now, then learn, then buy. If you are past the cancellation period,
    theh,

You are missing some vital information?

What weeks does it float? That will determine when you can make reservations.
Once you have a reservation you can deposit it to your II account and trade it for something else..
ICE from what I have heard and seen is almost valueless, I wouldn't spend a lot of time trying to figure it out.
You mention Yellow which is an II season, most resorts allow you to make reservations 12 months prior to the date of arrival, so find out when the Yellow( mild off season) is for your resort and plan how to reserve your week.

    fwiw,

    Greg

I will also say - if you just purchased this from the developer and you can recind do it now. I purchased my 3 BRD lock off floating week odd years on ebay for $410.

If you can't......then I will answer the question that you emailed me: What do I do with my unit.

Honestly....nothing but trade it with II and will test the waters with RCI next year. My float week can be booked any week of the year. So, when I am able to book my 2013 weeks - I check with II and see what weeks they want and will give me a bonus week (Accomidation Certificate) for. I split by 3 BR into a 2BR and a 1 BR and book those weeks. I give them to II and then they give me 2 more weeks. End result - every other year I get 4 weeks vacation with II. The AC's can be restrictive - but we go to Orlando alot and use them there.

No worries if you can't get out of what you purchased. Stick around, ask questions and enjoy.

Sorry....I can't help you with anything about ICE and the Yellow Program - I really don't know what they are. Probably only things you can get when you purchase from the developer.

thanks, i am sending my cancellation letter today on my 7th day. UGH, did a bunch of research today and they screwed me w/ the yellow season because I cannot book my weeks into II until 60 days prior or less which will leave me with probably no good options.

Essentially, It sounds like you bought the equivalent on a yearly RCI bonus week which many of us have long considered as generally useless. Stick around and learn a bit and then you can buy or get something free that is better than what you almost had. I would not suggest getting a week in Williamsburg unless you expect to go there just about every year. A yellow week there should be available free or for very little money on the resale market.

Good for you for doing your research before it was too late!

Hang around.....learn.....timeshare can be a wonderful thing. Full of vacations that will cost you a fraction of paying for similar accomidations if you do it right!

New Timeshare Forum member here. We have a float week with The Galleon Resort (Key West) from 3/31/12 - 4/7/12. Could someone please tell me what this would be worth in terms of II's system?

If you could also let me know what is available in Aruba, Dominican Republic or Lesser Antilles from 3/31/12 - 4/7/12 it would be very much appreciated.

The handle you have chosen is very close to a much-revered friend of this forum who is no longer with us.

I think you would have pretty good trading power but its a little late to start searching for Spring Break (for many of the Eastern States at least). Most of the non AI's are already gone or will go (when deposited) to someone who started an ongoing search 3-6 months ago. You can probably get an All-Inclusive but the "deals" they offer with TS exchange can usually be beat else where. Sometimes great things pop up but you have to check and recheck often and it makes it hard when you are looking at fly to destinations.

You might want to keep what you have this year and start planning your holiday exchanges around 8-10 months out or plan on traveling during a time of lesser demand.
