    Interval International Website problems

I'm having a bunch of problems with the II website. Everyone had problems a year ago. For several days no one was able to much of anything on their website. They eventually got that fixed. But recently the website has once again become unstable.

Recently things went sour again. Around Dec 21 or 22 a problem occurred where thousands of people using their "Community" were prompted to change their community "screen name". That happened to me. It was an error on the part of II. My old profile disappeared. My "friend" list disappeared and my ability to read mail sent to me went away. I was told that they made a mistake and that caused the problem. I was also told to have some patience and that they are going to fix their own screw up. That's 2 weeks ago. Today things degraded further - - I found that I can no longer access the Community forum. Nada. Nyet, nothing. I can see that there are a bunch of new posts, but cannot open them. So this seems to be an access problem. I suspect that RCI is no better than II, but I'm growing increasingly frustrated. For the fees and rates that they charge, they should at least be able to run their own website.

The original problem that opened this particular "string" was that sometimes people get a message that no exchanges are available and if they hit the refresh a half dozen times that it pops up. I've seen this and know to hit the refresh button multiple times. This is just another symptom that II is struggling and doing poorly in running their website.

Me? I'm shorting IILG (parent to II). Come on II - - you have a good value proposition but you're letting all of this deteriorate.

II issues for me,too. Problem is I am still pretty new and figuring out the system. Not sure what's possible, what's normal, and what's broken. Also I'm new to RCI, where I'm figuring out most everything is broken, most all the time.

Well welcome to the world of exchange companies, and rampant technological nightmares. Lol

It's true that both systems seem to be on the fritz a lot lately. With II, I've encountered all sorts of problems that I've never encountered in years of membership. I don't have a clue what's causing all the trouble, but seems each day something to deal with. They get one thing fixed, and another isn't working.

If you're encountering a page telling you that nothing is available when doing online searches, just keep refreshing the page. Hopefully, you'll get lucky, and the listings of what actually is available for your dates will show up.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I've been searching daily and I have seen that issue once in a great while. Most of the time it seems to be fine.

Having trouble logging in to Interval Intl

II seems to be having new problems. I have been unable to log into their "Community" function for the past 2 days. I can get to the opening page and see that a lot of people are posting things, but I cannot get any further. I can't open any of the posts. I get a warning that "the Community is not currently available...please try later..."

I personally think that the current problem is related to the screen name problem that started right around Dec. 20. On around that date thousands of people were told that someone under their login had chosen their screen name and that they needed to change their screen name.

I turned in a problem report and a series of changes were made to my account. One change that has unfortunately "stuck" is that they created a new user name for me and I lost all of my history, friends, etc. Then they assigned a screen name to my wife and made it the same as mine. (This just doesn't make sense). I know that they are working on the problem and that they know what is going on. But in the mean time it is really pretty frustrating.

It is my understanding that the issue is not totally website related, more system/database related as the system that II reps on the phone have consistent issues with their system as well.

Interval's internet support department may have some answers to this, if you call the exchange line and ask to be transferred (don't have the number off hand, sorry)
I am happy to try and provide help and advice on II and can offer personal assistance by PM if needed.

                II problems - calendar

Also, the calendar doesn't work for me on the various requests that I have in place. Currently, even a II rep can't put in/change the proper dates. Grrrrrr!
                ________________________

A while ago I had problems with the calendar. I would try to input a date and it wouldn't take. I told II and they couldn't replicate the problem. Until I found the solution, I had a work-around where I ended up having to advance the calendar 30 days at a time.

But, I found a solution. I found that if I went to "tools", and then chose "compatibility view" that the calendar worked. Also, I found that by changing to compatibility view that I was able to access their document library. In my case that meant that they were NOT compatible with Internet Explorer 9. So by chosing compatibility view, my internet browser was working in an older-but-compatibile mode. So, since I've gone to the older Compatibility view, things work. If this is your problem, it may help you.

In regards to getting the message that nothing is available, that has been a long-term issue with II, I believe. I've read about it from several other people. Sometimes if you hit the refresh button (on some browsers it is at the top and looks like a circle with an arrow going to the right), you might get a different answer if you refresh. So there are a number of people (me too) that hit the refresh button a few times before giving up.

My OWN current problem is that I cannot access the II Community function. Somehow they made an error that caused a bunch of people to get their screen names screwed up. For the past 2 weeks I have had zero (nada, nothing, none, zilch, nyet) access to the Community function. That's a shame, because it is an interesting benefit. I have a software management background including designing and supporting systems booking a million transactions a day, so I am a bit surprised that it is taking this long to fix this fairly minor problem. I'm used to solving customer problems in hours rather than weeks or months. I am hoping that they eventually get things fixed.
