About a year and a half ago, II started a forum for its members called the Community. It was a pretty good idea and was well received. It was somewhat similar to this forum except that it was more focused on II specific issues at times. They have a documents library that helps the newcomers figure out how to use the II system. It was a professionally run system that was quirky at times and probably less reliable than TS4M (kudos to the people running this forum!! ).
Around December 20th, they implemented a new release of software on Community that wasn't compatible with the Mzinga rules (the people who are hosting their website). So their database started causing a number of problems. Suddenly a few thousand users were notified that someone on their account is using their Community ID (referred to as a screen name) and that they had to change it. Although I didn't change my screen name (I called their tech support) it got changed anyways. I lost my list of "friends", some offline mail, and all of my posts. Then my wife (who never had a screen name was given my new screen name. Grrrr....
Then on Friday Jan 6 (IIRC) the Community forum function further degraded. When I tried to open a posting I get an error that "Community is unavailable....try again later...." Since then, I've been locked out. Apparently there are lots of others that are in the same predicament as I am.
II had told me that on roughly Jan 17 that things would be fixed. Unfortunately they missed that date.
I'm disappointed with II for taking 3 weeks to fix something that should be fixable in a few days. (I have a software background with large systems). I've suggested some work arounds (like deleting my old history and screen name) or assigning a new screen name or even giving me access to a dummy (new) account so that I can access their Community.
Sometimes when I get this frustrated with a company I contact all of the people who are officers of the company. I usually stir things up and things seem to move more quickly. But, I am trying to exercise more patience at this point and give them some time to fix things. But come on folks!! How long does it take if you are REALLY working on it ??
Are any other TS4M members having problems like mine? Were you able to come up with any workaround with their tech support ? Are there any II people (email and/or phone numbers) that may be able to help me???
