Renewal fees

My free year with II that came along with my WestGate is coming up for renewal. Although I have yet to use it, there have been some properties that I have been interested in.

When I go to the renewal options it gives me two options. On the left it says "Interval Membership" and gives 1, 2, 3 and 5 year prices. The right it says "Upgrade Options", and the pricing for both Gold and Platinum for the same yearly durations.

Are these two INDEPENDANT of each other? Is the one on the left what I would chose if I wanted to keep my membership, but not at the gold level? My gut tells me to check no thanks in this column, and 2 years at gold level for $118. Other than the free guest certificates, is there any real advantage to platinum over gold?

In all honesty, the platinum isnt worth it. The Gold barely is either.

If you're going to renew, do it over the phone because the website has created a cpuple of odd issues where people have found themself on auto renew by mistake.

You can't get gold or platinum II without the basic membership. If you want one or the other you would have to pay for the basic membership in addition to the gold or platinum.

DRI used the "upgrade" to Gold in II as an excuse to raise fees a couple years back. I would much rather get the money back as the Gold seems to be worth little or nothing - certainly not the amount they raised the fees. If you renew just take the base membership IMO.

DRI put the club fee up to cover the cost of ditching the Indian call centre and having a UK based office instead for overflow of calls and incase the Miami call centre had issues.

You must but the basic membership and pay that fee to continue membership with I.I. The fee for Gole and the fee for Platinum are in addition to the basic membership fee. IMHO, none are worth it unless you plan on buying getaway weeks. At that point the addititional discount for Gold may be worth the price. Gold members also get Hertz #1 Gold membership for free. I you use Hertz and pay for Hertz #1 Gold that probably covers the cost of Gold membership.

Thanks for the responses guys. Guess I will be calling to see if I can use the Promo Code that was offered otherwise will probably let it go. I get gold membership with my SVC for getaways, so the ONLY reason to have another seperate membership would be if I had CMV or other deeded property to deposit!
