  • MVCI DC affect on II

First of all I would like to personally thank you for providing us your insight.
    Welcome to our wonderful forum!

From your perspective have you noticed any difference in availability of the Marriott inventory since the DC program has gained traction?

Can I assume you mean the Marriott Vacation Points Program? I haven't heard anything referred to as DC points by anyone so I am curious if I'm missing something.

I've noticed Marriott inventory changing a little bit, whether it's for the average member or for Marriott priority. I think we've had less people bank weeks this year, some of this may be due to Marriott people moving to points and exchanging internally.

I think the Marriott points program is good and bad. I think it's good for owners in the program. Exchanging with their home group and I assume they pay a lower exchange fee. MVCI also pay for their II basic membership if they do want to use II. For people in this program that can use it, I'm sure it's a good system.

For other people who call up and want to go to the Marriott through exchange like they probably have for years it might not be so great. When points are spent with II we are given weeks from a club that are the value of those points. If Marriott have as an example, 30 spaces at Newport Coast or 400 at Harbour Lake, Orlando, where are we going to get. It's great if we want Orlando most times or Palm Springs in the summer, not so great if people want to the more "uncommon" choises.
I am happy to try and provide help and advice on II and can offer personal assistance by PM if needed.

      Hi and Welcome to TS4Ms.

The Marriott Vacation Club Internationals' new points program is known as the "Destination Club" (DC). If you are a 'legacy' owner who has paid a fee to join the program, you have deeded weeks that convert to points unlike new owners who own UDI points.

Since II has now given Marriott the ability to 'raid' deposits made into II by traditional week owners who have not joined the club, I may deposit my Marriott Aruba or Hawaii week into my personal II account (not the corporate one that Marriott pays for and controls) but Marriott can take that deposit out of II to give to a points club member making a points reservation - and give II back that Orlando week u spoke of - hence affecting what is available in II for other non-DC Marriott owners as well as the general II member.

That is kinda what Billy was asking ...... are u seeing a difference in what is available in II Marriott availability?

If you are able to do this please let me know....I deposited my Aruba week, last week, and spoke with a II rep that told me that it wasn't possible once the week was registered with the DC Club. So, I deposited finto my corporate account. I didn't push it, because I didn't think it was going to make that much of a difference.

Off topic, but the point chart for the DC Club in II seems rather high to me, opposed to a week exchange:

TDI Studio 1 Bedroom 2 Bedrooms 3 Bedrooms 4 Bedrooms
        140 - 150 2,250 3,000 4,500 6,000 7,000
        115 - 135 1,750 2,750 4,000 5,000 6,000
        90 - 110 1,500 2,250 3,000 4,000 5,000
        50 - 85 1,000 1,500 2,250 3,000 4,000
        Angela

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I agree with the II rep Angela, once the week is enrolled in the Destination Club, it can only be deposited into your Marriott II Corporate Account. This is the same as Starwood SVN II account - your enrolled weeks must go into that account. And un-enrolled or NonSVN weeks can NOT go into the corporate account.

My example above is a non enrolled member like Billymach and Emmy depositing in their personal II account - and Marriott taking that week for a destination club II account request AND/OR a DC Points members request.

EDIT: I have read OY that the request made thru the II Corporate account get filled quickly/with priority above the non-enrolled Marriott II exchangers,,,,, time will tell.

Thanks for posting the Points Chart - TDI = Trade Demand Index???

What is the Maint.Fee on 4,500 points? $1850

Most of our agents are very poorly trained since our new system in 2009. Inventory has been affected and it getting worse coincides with the DC program. I think since II took the DRI contract exchange has been secondary to that and the members are feeling it.
I am happy to try and provide help and advice on II and can offer personal assistance by PM if needed.

Close, I think it is actually Travel Demand Index. The higher peak periods are ones near 140 like during the summer, or winter for the ski resorts. Shoulder and off season near the lower range of course.
