  • Confirmation Error - What recourse do I have?

I made an exchange about a month ago and got my confirmation from II. Booked my flight and rental car. Yesterday I got a call from II saying the resort does not take Sat arrivals - which the confirmation is for - and they have changed my check-in date. Can they do that? Don't they have a responsibility to find us another Sat check-in in the same area? Will the insurance get my airfare paid for? - or at least the difference in price if we have to go somewhere else? I am playing phone tag with the rep, but making alternate plans for President's week is dicey.

    Eileen,

sorry to hear about this mix-up.......i really don't know what liabilities ii would have in this situation. however, i would think they would be liable for something, after all, it appears it was their mistake.

    what check-in dates are available?

is it possible to stay in a hotel for a night? if so, i would do that and try to make ii pay for your stay.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I would also propose getting a hotel room for that night. If you can get II to chip in, so much the better.

We are locked into the school calender. The time offered is Friday to Friday. Our flights are Sat and Sat. We don't mind staying at a comprable resort (Palm Springs/Palm Desert), if they can find one. Otherwise asking them to pay for 2 rooms at the end of the stay would be ok. They showed the unit as Sat check-in; they booked the unit as a Sat check-in and sent the confirmation the same. It's now a month later and flights booked. We don't care where we go as long as it's warm (at least 70's daytime). I gess they don't mess up that often.

Since it is II mistake, I would PUSH for a similar unit.....
Such as one of the 3 Marriotts, Westin Mission Hills...all 4 of these properties rent their TS unit so let II get you a 2BR unit there at thier expense.

IMO I do not think they will pay for a hotel. They will however give you another exchange in that area if it is available. They might be willing to return your exchange fee which is the best case for you if another unit is not available, I would then try Priceline to see if you can bid on a room. Just be sure to check www.biddingfortravel.com first.

This happened to me at RCI. We were scheduled and confirmed to be at the resort Fri-Fri, but they changed it to Sat-Sat. Fortunately, our flight was Fri to the following Sat, so we will arrive one day early instead of leaving one day later. Car rental was easy to change. Good luck to you!

Nope...but they gave me the same resort one day later, and I was okay with that.

I was finally able to connect with the gal in "Relocations". She said there were many of us in the same boat. She had already contacted the resort to say we could not arrive on Friday. I told her that we would be willing to go to a similar resort with a Sat check-in. She seemed happy to hear it, but there was nothing available. She said it was early for Feb 07 deposits to have been made. I'm waiting to hear back. I am so glad they are willing to work with us to find a resolution. I'll post when I get one.

                      Eileen,
That sounds strange that she said it is early for February 2007 deposits yet. I would think that most of them would have already been made and taken already. It is less than 6 months away. I really hope everything works out for you.
