I am in screow to buy a 2BR-Lockoff at Westin Maui resort. It is likely that we will want to trade the studio unit through II and visit other places outside of Starwood world. How much trade value should my Westin Maui studio provide? If I trade 7 days in my studio, is it possible I get more than 7 days back in trade through II? NOTE: I only want to stay in 5-star, higher end places.

You can not get more than one week, for a one week exchange. And, you cannot request a larger unit than the unit that you are depositing into II, unless the resort that you are requesting only offers larger units. So, with your lock-off portion, you can either put in a request for another studio....request a resort that only offers 1+ bdrms, or do your own searches on II.
If you are willing to do searches on II, with your studio, you will be able to snag anything that you see. 1, 2, 3 bdrms, it does not matter, if you see it, you can take it.
If you are able to do some last minute traveling, there is a 'Flexchange' period, on II. It is the 59 days prior to the check-in date. During that period, you will see your best trades. Everything, and anything can show up, and usually does.
Of course, you always have the option of renting your lock-off, and paying your maintenance fees, or renting at another location, with the money.

PS.....A Westin Maui would be considered at the top of chain, as far as trades/resorts go. So, you would do very well trading thru II. You just need to learn their system.
