Well, I am finally getting around to joining- are there any specials (2 for 1 promos or anything) around now?

Also- as a newbie to all this I am really not intending on trading right now, but am joining really to consider taking advantage of Getaways. Rather than paying to join just to see if I'd be interested in the Getaways, is there any Getaways listings on this site similar to the II exchange listings which a few people do every day (much appreciated, I might add!)? Before buying, I was intrigued by the Getaways the timeshare salesperson flashed up on his screen, but I only got a cursory look back then. We do have a lot of travel flexibility so I am hoping Getaways may be a better option than perhaps buying another week for trading (although ya never know ).

Oh- thanks- that's really nice. I was thinking mid May and/or mid August and pretty open as to area. I have no idea if that leaves a list of a few or a hundred, so I apologize if that's too broad a search- if it is, perhaps just pick an area to give me an idea of what's available.

I joined last week. I spoke with membership services and there weren't any specials then. The rep suggested joining for a year and then adding years when they run the next special. I thought that made sense as long as I'm aware of specials.
