  • Any problems with an ongoing request?

Has anyone else had this happen to them? I currently have an ongoing request placed using a Marriott St. Kitt's week into any of the 5 DVC resorts for a large block of time Jan-Feb and Apr-May. I have been checking inventory daily, mainly because I'm neurotic but also because I'm curious what type of units are coming available outside my preferred dates. However, on TWO different occasions, I have seen a week show as available for immediate confirmation that matched my ongoing request, but I wasn't given the automatic match.

Neither of the weeks have been ideal, so I've let them go, but I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else? It seemed very strange to me that these wouldn't have confirmed based on my ongoing request. The first time it happened, I called II and asked about it. She said yes, she could see that inventory also, would I like to book it? I said no and I changed my dates by a week to not include that week in future searches. However, when I asked her why it didn't match, she said based on my original request it should have matched, and had no answer other than it must have been a system glitch.

Well, it happened again this week. Again this time not an ideal week, so I didn't even call. But, now I feel like I HAVE to check every day, because my ongoing request doesn't seem to be working. Anyone had this happen?

I am not sure I understand what you have found.

So you have 5 specific resorts listed for a time frame of Jan thru May dates? You are excluding March?

You say when you do a manual search you found one of the five resorts with a date not ideal....is this outside of the dates you have asked for?

Is the unit size the differing factor? What size unit are you searching with and what size unit came up?
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

I also have a DVC request in place & check often to see what is coming up. I am using a 1 bedroom sleeps 4 for my request so the studios & 2 bedrooms would never match even though I might be willing to accept one of those if the timeframe was suitable.

Is it possible that your trade unit is too small or large to match? Are you requesting sleeps 6 capacity? Or a full kitchen? Have you asked for a rare 2-bedroom? Everything must match completely or the system will not do an automatic confirmation.

I know from manual searches that my 1 bedroom unit can see all size DVC units but my studio deposit can only see DVC studios & not larger sizes. I can never use my studio for ongoing searches because that's all I would be able to request.

With all the DVC units that have been showing up for Jan/Feb. I'm surprised you haven't had a match.

My trade unit is a 2BR Marriott St. Kitts, but in my ongoing request I have listed I will accept a 1BR. When I look for available exchanges, I am looking online using the same week that I have a pending request, so it's not like I'm looking with a different week that has different trading power. I have seen a 1BR available on two dates during the date range I have requested (to answer the one question my request is essentially Jan-May but excluding March for all 5 DVC resorts in Orlando). One that showed available as an exchange was first week of Jan (I have since changed my request to start the third week of Jan. The second was President's week (which is in my range, but so crowded at Disney I decided to let it go and that's the one I didn't call II to ask why it didn't match automatically because we'd really rather not go Pres week if something else came avail).

When I called on the Jan week, the person I talked to at II said there's no reason she could see that it shoudn't have matched based on my request. I am thinking about calling back and asking for a supervisor, but wanted to see if there was some quirk out there with exchanging into DVC I wasn't aware of.

I have exchanged into DVC resorts a couple of times and both times it didn't show up on my II account automatically. Both times I had an II rep call my contact number and ask if I still wanted the exchange. It seems like they do this in order to explain the $95 resort fee. This fee needs to be paid before you arrive at the resort. As to why you didn't receive a call, I don't know, must of been something wrong with the system. I received a call a couple of weeks ago for my request and had to turn it down. I'm looking for a 2-BR and they offer me a 1-BR which would be to small for my family. Hang in there I'm sure you will receive what you want.

I have also had in a request and had the exact dates and resort show up in inventory but not confirmed to my request. I immediately called II and got the week...Makes me mad because the system is obviously flawed and it also makes me neurotic with checking inventory!!
