  • II membership price increase

I am thinking about joining II as I am not please with RCI and interested
in staying at a Marriott off season. The II rep I just spoke with
advised that there will be an increase in memership dues. She did not
say how much. Does anyone know if this is true and if so, how much???
Also she mentioned a pro rated refund of dues if not happy with membership. Can anyone confirm this??? I was offered an AC if I joined and deposited my 2008 week. I am sure AC's have been written about
many times on this thread. Can anyone direct me to more info on use of AC's and are they of any value???
    Thanks,
    Paul

Price increases are inevitable but it's often used as a scare tactic to get you to sign up now.

Their prorated refund is probably for multi year payment and they return all full years that you haven't used.

If you're looking for off-season or last minute an AC will work wonders!

I've been hearing this for a couple of years. I'm sure the price will eventually go up but there's been no official announcement that I'm aware of. In fact I.I. just offered us 2 years for the price of 1 (which I took) so for me, the latest price change was a price drop.

Paul....As far as AC's go, not all AC's are alike. The trading power of your AC will be based on the trading power of the resort that produced it. Personally, I love them. I have booked Disney Boardwalk Villas, 6 months out, with one of mine. I booked Westin, Mission Hills, also about 6-7 months out, with another, etc. They can come in very handy, at times.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Is there a general rule about date restrictions on ACs, or are those based on the underlying resort as well?

I just joined with a week that I had planned to do only a search-first with, but I've been offered an AC for it. Of course, there are "terms and conditions", but the II website is not telling me what those terms and conditions might be....any way to find out without actually depositing it?

            Thanks...

            Thanks, all, for your responses...
This timeshare business is more complicated than I first anticipated...
            Best wishes,

They are good for 1 year from the date they were issued. This would be the same for all ACs. No black-out dates, or anything like that.

Don't at least some of the AC's have black-out dates for certain holiday periods?

Every AC I have ever recieved was slightly different. Some had costs ranging from $249-399 others were $199-299. The grid for where & when has been different on every one as well. I think there are some that blackout travel during holidays & some restrict for NY. All of mine would not allow use to return to the resort that earned it. It is wise to time your deposit so that your AC won't expire before you can use it. They are only good for travel completed within 12 months of your deposit.

I have used every one I've gotten & had some very nice exchanges, always shoulder or off season, however. I have used them for Marriotts in Palm Desert as well as Disney Boardwalk Villas. What you could get would depend on the trading power of your deposit. They work very well for me.

I have had friends using the AC-s for ongoing reservations beyond the 60-day period.

Yes but they tend to work better in the 60 day window.

You can use them for an ongoing search outside the 60 day window for specific areas during specific months, generally off-season for each area. Lots of Orlando Within 60 days there are no area restrictions.

I wanted to lengthen my membership period as my membership was soon to expire. I got 5 years for $339 which amounts to 1 free year. An increase in inevitable IMHO and sooner rahter than later.
