  • II Exchange Cancellation

I have an II Deposit that I have booked an exchange with for late December that my daughter was going to use to join us over Christmas. Now, she is scheduled to do a lot of traveling at work before then, plus they are buying a new house and need to get moved, settled and put the old house on the market. So she doesn't think that they will be able to go.

I am trying to decide whether to keep it and have more room or return it to II. I have cancelled exchanges with RCI, but never with II. What are my options and what has been your experiences?

Since you are more then 60 days from the check-in, you will have use of your week to exchange into anything you can see or put in an ongoing search for up to 1 year after the cancellation date.
Cancel Sept 27,2007 - good until Sept 28,2008
IMHO, this encourages people to cancel late so they have the most time to re-exchange the week.

I had to cancel only one time and my week appeared to have the same trading power after the cancellation as it did before.

    Hope this helps

Talking about cancellations, I will be moving from Michigan to Texas. Right now, I dont know what my vacation days will be next year. So if I see something that I like should I book it and just hope that I cant get my vacation at that time next year? Are there any penalties for cancelling with II? I would definately know more than 60 days out if my request for these specific vacation days were approved or not. Just wondering if I should grab the resort that I want right now and hope it all works out. Thanks!!

The penalties for canceling an II exchange is that you lose your exchange fee. As well as getting only one year to make a new exchange instead of the up to 3 years with a regular deposit ( 1 year before the check in date of the deposit - 2 years after)

          II Urgent advice re cancellation

Received an exchange confirmation this morning , but out of a list of 10 requests this is the least attractive ( my home resort ...and we need a break from it ) .Read somewhere that if I "reject" within a 24 hour period , they will move on to the next resort on my list . Is this correct . Am dealing with II (and a Marriott )
          Thanks in advance

Gary.....Yes, you have 24 hours to cancel without penalty. I think they will confirm any resort on your list if it becomes available.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Learnings form this - never put a resort on your list that you really do not want to visit.

Thanks all .Received confirmation just now, accepting my cancellation within the 24 hour period . Had put my home resort on the list with 9 others (lest I get nowhere else !) . But now understand the computer scans all and comes up with the first one ..and confirms it . Thanks Again

(if nothing shows ..will go back to II ! ...that will be popular with them )

If you give them 10 resorts, whichever one becomes available first will be confirmed.

You can also use that to your advantage.....say you only want one particular resort for one date.....you request that resort and then add a resort you will never get - say Westin St John for Christmas and New Years week - 2009 - then u really only have to worry about getting the resort you want

Understand .... am still a newbe after 5 years ! But in the example you show above what happens if your second choice does not come up .? That's why I used 10 requests .(mostly 5 stars across Europe )....was afraid nothing would be available (by the way I need 2 consecutative weeks so its a little more difficult )
