I've never heard of a Platinum membership in II. Interval does have a gold membership ( about $80 more/year than the regular II membership) which has the same benifits of an "Entertainment book" with a small discount on getaways also.

Generally, these add on memberships are not a good deal.

What resort is telling you there is an II Platinum membership?

Any II member has access to II Getaways. The price for a desireable week/location is probably going to cost more than $99.

You must own an II affiliated timeshare to join II. However, if you sell the timeshare, they don't usually terminate your membership, so you can continue to reserve Getaways as long as you are a member.

II sells excess inventory to the general public on condodirect.com. The prices are quite a bit more than what I pay as a Gold II member, though, and you won't see Marriott on there.

I never see any II Getaway weeks for $99, but I do see studios with my Gold membership sometimes for $224 a week (you need to add tax to that). If you let family use a Getaway and you won't be with them, then they'll need a $39.00 guest certificate to be able to check in at the resort.

Interval International (II) requires you to own a II affiliated timeshare to be able to join.

For a lot less than $3,000, you could buy an every other year silver week Marriott and join II for real. It costs around $84 a year to be a regular member of II and I think Gold membership is just over $100. It's less if you buy a 3 year or 5 year membership. We paid about $500 for a 5 year Gold membership to II when we bought our little Every Other Year silver Marriott Lock off week. Take a look at this auction on ebay for a Marriott silver week. This guy has it listed for $1,400 buy it now, but I bet he'd take less:

Horizons by Marriott Vacation Club Branson Timeshare - (eBay item 120170175799 end time Nov-07-07 09:38:44 PST)

Don't pay somebody $3,000 to be a member of II. Do your homework (which it's good you are asking questions) and you may find a sweet little deal on a timeshare that will allow you to trade and buy Getaways through II.
