I have a deposit in II that will expire Dec. 24, 2007. Is it worth $169.00 to extend it for a year? Do the extended weeks have much trading power? TIA

If your deposit is expiring because you couldn't use it (work, family, etc.) and it has a good trading power I would pay to extend it. However, if you were never able to trade to what you wanted because of a poor trading power and you don't plan on using it during flextime (not enough time to prepare for a vacation and not too many choices of weeks/resort) I would let it expire.

When you extend your week, your trading power does not change, one way or the other. However, you are only allowed to make exchanges 59 days in advance of check-in. So, you are restricted to the flexchange period, and may not be able to put in a request.
You would need to be able to travel within a 59 day window, and would probably do best by searching on-line, for an exchange.

Thanks for the info, Angela. I didn't realize that extended deposits had the 59 day restriction. I've never had a week get close to expiring!
I had to cancel an exchange within 60 days once and the replacement deposit I was given had the flexchange restriction. The trading power was supposedly the same as the original but since all I was allowed to see was the flextime window it didn't really matter. I called II for an unrelated matter & the rep volunteered to check availability for 6 month out and made an exchange using the replacement week. That may be a possibility with an extended week as well. The legitimate object of Government is to do for a community of people whatever they need to have done but cannot do at all or cannot do so well for themselves”- Lincoln

What are the charges for 3 months and 6 months?
Originally posted by ArtsieAngUnfortunately, yes.....They offer you three options, for various prices. 3 months, 6 months, or a 1 year extension. You are restricted to the 59 day window with all of these options, and can not place a request. If you opt for a 1 year extension, and find something in 3, or 6 months, they will not refund your money for the extended time.

I don't use II much so this is news to me on extending a deposited week. I have a deposit that expires in March 2009. I would like to use it for April 2009. If I extend it 3 months, you mean that I can't search out for a year trying to find something in April 2009? I would be limited to doing searches in Feb 09? Is that right? If so, this is bad news for me.

Even though you are extending your week well in advance tim it will not show you availibilty beyond the orig exp date. To look beyond the orig exp date you would have to wait until 59days prior. Although it remains a df it still won't show you anything beyond your orig mar09 exp even if you were to put a req it will never confirm you until the 59days.
