  • II searching tricks

Are there any tricks to searching II for best availability and/or trading power? It seems like I can see some resorts one day and not see them again for few days using the same search.

It's possible that the resorts you are referring to, have been taken, and then more are deposited a few days later. That happens frequently.

It's also possible that the II site is screwing up your search. That also happens frequently. Sometimes I need to search the same location a few times in row, in order to see what I know is there. Example......There is a large selection off-peak weeks in a certain area one day. That very afternoon, they're gone. I know that they can't all be gone, because off-peak weeks wouldn't go that quickly. I do the same search one, or two more times, and they magically appear. It's frustrating, I know.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Hitting F5 or Refresh May Work

I'm new to timeshare and II. We just bought our first timeshare unit in December. So, my experience is limited. However, since signing up with II in January, I have done almost daily searches just to get a good feel for how it works and what kind of units are available out there...

I found that if you hit F5 (or refresh) when a search came back empty, it'll sometimes magically come back with listings. Although you may need to hit F5 a few times for it to work... I think it's a bug in the II search code.

For example, there are ALWAYS lots of listings in Las Vegas or Orlando. Unless I was searching for a very specific resort during a specific time period, it should never come back empty. Well, it sometimes does, but if I hit F5 enough times (usually 1 or 2), it'll always pull up a long list of listings.

Yes, this particular bug has been around for years. Very annoying. And sometimes even after I get the darn weeks loaded, when I hit "other available dates" or whatever it says at the bottom of the first few units listed for a resort, I get an error message and can't see the other dates.

Still can't be as bad as RCI.

I'm NOT loving the new pop-up that comes in after I'm searching for a while. Yes I want to see it! Can you say double click on everything?

It is nice to know that I am not the only that has these same problems.

I thought someone from II monitors this forum, no? If yes, then why haven't these search bugs been fixed? Or, do they just don't care about their customers?

The inventory you are seeing on the ii site is the same inventory everyone else is its a live system that is always changing every second. When you select a unit it pulls from view for 18 mins so things are constantly comin and goin. The best times to check the website is before they open or after they close as you will be able to see fresh inventory or units that have been put on hold during the day fall of of hold. But yeah there are some bugs on the ii sight.

Sometimes if you put in the resort code instead of "all destinations" you'll see availability where "all destinations" shows none for that resort. Makes no sense but it happens...

I have noticed the glitch where the search pulls up locations, but you click on them and the screen says nothing available. By chance I tried again a couple times and discovered that almost always the selections will come up if you are persistent. At first, I used to think the week had been taken in the brief span of time between when I ran my search and when I opened the link!

                      Sue,
That happens to me, too. Just keep hitting refresh on your browser and something should show up. You might have to hit it a few times.

You have to be quick and grab stuff. You can hold an II exchange for 18 minutes. This will give you enough time to check airfares or find your credit card !

We are not sure if II looks in or not, Chances are that now they might be,
So my Question is do we leave this thread here or do we move it from wandering eyes?

Understatement of the century! RCI has got to have the worst search system, EVER!!!!!!

I'd leave it. Maybe someone from II will understand how frustrating it can be when the site doesn't function correctly, and help get it fixed......I can hope.
