  • Can a guest cert be added after the fact?

If you find an exchange with II, can you purchase a guest certificate anytime? Or do you have to buy the cert when you find the exchange?

Thanks Frank, as I have just spotted a week in II that would be perfect for my friend, but I am not sure of her address and would want to pick up the week tonight, and then get the cert sometime tomorrow when I get all her info.

      Thanks.

Purchase GC at alater date? Yes!!

Both II and RCI allow us to make the reservation first, and purchase a guest certificate at a later date. I have done this.

Yes, you can purchase a guest certificate up to the check-in date. I believe that you can do this on-line by going to your "History" and checking "Guest Certificate" under that particular exchange. You can also call II, and they will assist you.

That happens with me too, sometimes, even after my coffee.

Now, here is a related question -

Once you give II the money for a GC, how the heck does one print an official looking GC? Do we need to call II and ask them to send us one via fax? email? snail-mail?

With RCI, I think there are two ways:

                    1. While purchasing, provide an email ID and RCI will send GC to the guest.
                    2. If email ID was not provided when GC is being created, we can call the RCI rep and request them send it to you via snail-mail or fax.

It comes as an email attachment - similar to the confirmation you received - and then a few weeks later in the mail.

Thanks Pat. I don't remember ever seeing this. A friend of mine reserved a week for me for October, and I am yet to receive a GC via email or regular mail - a month had gone by...

So if you add the cert later, then an email attachment official cert will be needed.

But if you make the confirmation at the same time you buy the guest cert, then the confirmation is in the name of the guest, right?

Yes, Katiemack. I've done guest certs. 3 times. All online..one at the time of exchange & 2 later. I forwarded the e-mail confirmations when I got them and the snail-mail version got sent to them at their address later. I also got a snail mail copy!
