II system changing?

Ok, I feel like I am about to open a can of worms here but I have heard rumors of the II system getting a major overhaul in 2009. Someone even posted split week possibilities I have searched TUG and here and find little info about this. Can someone point me in the right direction? Is there anything beyond rumors out there right now? Thank you! Katherine

The only change I know of is that the five star designation is suppose to go away and there's two new designations to take it's place. Other than that I believe it's all rumor and speculation.

I just can't imagine the split week option unless the entire II system goes to points ... and I can't see that happening.
Individual Min-Systems (such as Marriott) could possibly go to points but the old week owners would/could be grandfathered in..... this works well for DVC, Starwood, Sunterra, Blue-Green.

But the way RCI handle the points conversion charging people for what they already own is B*ll**** - a poor business model - and i would hate to see II go that way.

Other than the change from 5* to Premier & Select the rumours are speculation.

I don't know the details, but I own at DVC and something was mentioned in our 2008 planner about 3/4 day exchanges via II being an option for us in the coming months.

Heard nothing but

II has to do something soon. The straight week for week trade model, with its requirements of convoluted attempts to even out value and unknown values, is quickly coming to an end. A split week system might offer something (you can take a poor value week and get 3 or 4 days of a better week?) but it still sounds like patchwork on a dying system. A well executed points system - not the botched job and high prices RCI did - could make II a real player. Based on the performance and history of II that isn't going to happen.
