  • What's the story?.......Changes in II?

Either II has gotten a ton of new deposits, or they have changed what I can see with the week I normally search with. I am seeing so many resorts today that I've never seen before.

    What's going on?

It's in the states as well. Today, I've seen resorts all over the map that I've never seen before. Miami, Vermont, NY....Lot's, and lots of never before seen resorts.

I wonder if II is widening their like = like system, and allowing more resorts to be viewed?

These can't possibly all be new listings, can they?

You can check against the resort directory here. If they aren't in there they are new. I would bet money the Fire Island one is new.

Hard to tell with II as they use alpha coding. RCI new resorts are pretty obvious with the numerics and now the new resorts start off with "A".

Good idea.....I sure have never seen Fire Island before. I'm not sure because I know that II blocks me from seeing some resorts. So, I don't know if I'm being allowed to see these resorts for some reason, or if they're new.

            It's the Economy!

            Yahoo! Personal Finance

Don't care what the Gov't says or thinks now. We are in a recession.

            Great Travel Deals
During times of recession, most people don't think about traveling. For this exact reason, traveling can be a great deal when the economy is shaky. Lack of demand results in excess inventory, which forces hotels and other related travel industries to lower their prices. It also means a greater inventory to choose from and the ability to bargain for upgrades and other perks. That dream vacation that you have always wanted to take can be a lot more affordable during a recession, when travel related industries are begging for your business.

              Definitely !!!
I'm here at the Crane/Barbados and American (U.S., that is) tourism is down and British and Canadian is up per the locals here.
We Americans are sticking close to home due to the downward turn of the economy, stock market and the upward climb of oil per the news channel.
That's the great thing about timesharing, having a kitchen and washer/dryer (sometimes). Yes, some hotels have these things, too.

I think II must have changed their trading rules. I'm seeing all sorts of new stuff. I just booked Four Seasons Aviara! Just a studio, but none of my resorts could see the Four Seasons at all before. (Well, I'm sure my DVC can trade into there, but I can't search online using DVC.)

I agree. I am seeing resorts that I have never seen before. I believe they have changed the criteria for what sees what.

I see it as a good thing - allowing people to make their own decisions about WHERE they want to go and what type of accommodations are acceptable to them.

I agree, something is definately happening. I have a 1 bedroom Penhaven Cottages exchange for August 2009 that was sitting on line. This is a new resort and from the resorts web site it looks VERY upscale. Now, I am using a Cape Cod summer week for exchange, but two years ago I NEVER saw anything as enticing unless it was short notice. I now have time to plan and make arrangements for a few days in London before my week in Penhaven.

Airlines ticket prices have gone up, gas is at an all time high and the dollar is starting to have the value of Confederate money during the Civil War. I think many, many people are staying home or just traveling a short distance for vacation. Can you imagine airfare to Europe for a family of four. Let's not even think about the food , gas and things to do!

Perfect example of someone close to me; he is a young man (28 years old, my Godson) married with one child. He makes a very good salary (I sign his paycheck each week). They live is an apartment owned by his family and pay $250 a month for rent. His car is paid for as is her car. They wanted to take a cruise this spring but found the prices too expensive. He asked me if I could find him something; I did. He is vacationing 60 miles from home.

My point, if someone like this is aware of the costs and concerned about them, then can you imagine a family with normal expenses???

DH and I are going to Greece in September; if it wasn't for FF miles and nearly free tickets and also a nearly free car rental we'd be staying close to home. We have Euros from our last trip that were bought when it was nearly even exchange and that will help, but I am concerned about the final cost....and most of the trip is already paid for!
