Or can you book a 1 bedroom and then see a studio months later and call and try to book it with II by paying another exchange fee.

I think I would discuss it with II when I was making the original request and see what they say - I suspect the answer would be yes as they make their money by accepting your exchange fee
I'd be Leary about this working. Once you use your 2 bdrm for the 1 bdrm exchange, it's gone. If you can not lock-off the unit, I think you may be out of luck.

Call II, and see what they say, and if they suggest a way of making this work.

If a studio is available along with a one bedroom. they will give you the studio but you must pay the additional exchange fee.

I know this because I exchanged a two bedroom unit for three studios in Mexico and paid two exchange fees.in 2006 I was recently told if I did this again I would have to pay another exchange fee. for the third unit.

Did you book the units simultaneously, or at different times?

It makes since that you would have to do it at the same time. We usually use our trader to trade into DVC so thsi might be next to impossilbe to see the exchanges at the same time except during maybe September when lots of exchanges are available. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

With DVC, just request a 2BR with an ongoing search....you will MOST likeley get it.

I have had people tell me (Starwood Owners) when they called II, they were able to ge a "2 for 1" exchange - pay a second fee and get a second 2BR unit for an additional exchange fee = 2 2BR units for one 2BR deposit, so unless you ask, you don't know.

But as Angela and Buff point out - it is best done all at the same time.

I am going to put in my request for DVC for December. Last year I was able to get a 2 bedroom at SSR for the week of December 15th. This year we need to go the week prior since our annual passes will expire on the 15th.

I have not seen any weeks come up for the first couple of weeks of December. I am also a DVC member so I made a ressie using points in case it does not come through. My exchange expires in December this year so I really want it to come through. I am worried about not seeing any rooms come up for the first couple of weeks in December yet I know that is peak travel time us DVC'ers since points are cheaper during that time frame.

Remember Robin, all you see online are the 'leftovers' - units no on has a request in for - so just put in your request for the 5 DVCs and let us now when u get a hit.
I exchanged for the first week of December 2007 in early January 2007.
Put your request in NOW for your best chance of a match.

I've gotten several 2-BRs by doing a ongoing search with II. I'm also a DVC member and did the same thing for Jan, 2009. I reserved using my pts and also had a request in with II using my Bonus Week from my 2-BR deposit. I received my exchange in about 3 weeks. A 2-BR at BCV. Now I can hold onto my DVC pts and use at a later date. I was so excited.

What week/month were you able to get a 2 bedroom at BCV? We got a 2 bedroom at SSR but it was for a week in November but we are happy with it.
