  • II questions ??

    Hello,
I have been with II for several years now but have never understood how this whole exchange thing worked. I am reading on this forum you have a better chance on getting a request filled depending on where you own? is that correct?
I put a request in for either the week of July 17th or the week of July 26th for either Omni Cancun or Beach Palace Cancun, I put in the request in April this year for a week that I had deposited in April of last year the week expires in May of 2009 my week is week 20 and is for my home resort which is the Mystic Dunes Resort in Orlando. What do you think my chances of getting my request for Cancun?

Sorry I am so confused on how this all works
    Thanks

Hi lele and welcome to TS4Ms.
Yes, it does depend on where and when you own and what type of unit it is.
As far as the trade into Beach Palace and Omni, it appears as though they do not come up that often. There was a bulk space bank for Beach Palace not too long ago, but the dates you mentioned were not in it.
Is there a specific reason you wanted just those two specifc resorts?
There are other resorts that are very nice also, maybe if you expand your search to different resorts, you may find one. Many people here like the Royals and may be able to comment on them.

      lele, Welcome to TS4M's

Yes, as others have stated, where & what you own makes a difference when making a request in II. II operates on a like = like theory. They try and match up as closely as possible the resort that you deposited with the resort that you get, quality wise. Therefore, there is a pecking order in II. The closest match comes first. When you make your deposit, the demand for your week, the size of your unit, as well as when you made your request, will make a difference. The earliest date, largest unit, highest demend, as well as quality, all come into play. Also, some resorts such as Marriott, Sheraton, Westin, etc. have preference periods of 3 - 24 days. During those periods, only same brand resorts can make an exchange into.

I agree with jericap. Your best bet is to add as many resorts to your request as possible. Beach Palace Cancun will be very difficult to get. The Royals are great, and that would increase your request by 3 resorts.

      Good Luck!!!!

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Before you get confirmed you might check if Beach Palace is mandatory all inclusive and how much extra that will cost you. July is not the easiest trade in the world and adding the 4 (of 5) Royals in Cancun may help. I'm not familiar with Mystic Dunes, but week 20 in Orlando is not the best week for trading. I had a week 20 5* in Orlando, but don't remember if I ever traded into the Royals with it.

The reason I was interested only in Omni and Beach Palace is because its seems they are the only two that offer all inclusive, and over all that is worth it for us. I am trading in a 1 bedroom with a full kitchen at the Mystic Dunes in Orlando, and on the request for Cancun I said that I was willing to accept a studio, and no kitchen to make it easier to get.

Generally, All Inclusive (AI)TS are easier to trade into than non AI. It's because many people don't like being compelled to using the AI option.

Your biggest problem with your requested trade maybe that you made your request to late. Most people request a trade for a check in date at least 6 months ahead and many people do it 12 months before the travel date. This is because II (and RCI) want you to deposit your units as early as you can to give them the most time to find matches.

Bill, I did deposit it about a year ago, so my week has been deposited for a year. I just put in a request for exchange for my deposited week in April this year for end of July. Lets see I hopefully will get it, the CSR at II said that quite a few people deposit their week late this year because they are not sure if they will be able to travel with the airline prices and economy being so bad. Who knows. I guess I will keep my fingers crossed

I would add the Royals if I were you, even if they don't offer all inclusive they're very nice resorts.
