  • AC Questions

I recently took ownership of a ts and joined II (thanks to all of you that helped me through that). I have a float week - checked with II to see what weeks would give me an AC - made that ressie and gave it to II. They confirmed I would get an AC - but I am not seeing it online yet as a week to exchange.

Will this AC show up on the list when I go to exchange services?
Do the ACs take a few days, weeks, months to show up?
Is there anything I should know about the use of an AC? How long will it be good for. Can I assume it will pull the same trading power as my Home TS unit? For example - I can pull DVC with my TS - will the AC also pull them?

Thanks in advance and please let me know if there is anything else I SHOULD know!!

There's a lot to know. AC's come in many varieties and some have restrictions and exclusions. They usually mimic the trading power of the week they are given for. I suggest you call II if the certificate does not appear with your banked weeks within a week of the deposit.

I had to call on one today that took more than 2 days and they weren't sure why...a supervisor added it to my account instantly.

My last one took 5- days because I deposited and immediately exchange - so it took a few days to confirm the deposit - if it goes more then a week, i would call.

Thanks everyone - I called and the rep told me that the week I deposited did not give me an AC. I mentioned to her that 3 other reps did confirm that it was a week that would....she put me on hold, told me I was correct and the AC is now showing up.

Still wondering....anything particular I should know about using the AC? The rep told me there would be additional fees and alot of limitations on availablity. I played with DVC exchanges and some are popping up - so I guess it isn't that bad.

Please be aware that most people use their AC in 2 ways.
              - Travel to high supply areas during low demand time.
So if you want to go to Orlando anytime but the peak travel times ( like mid Summer) you should be able to use your AC to make that reservation well in advance.

-Short notice travel to almost anywhere.
59 days before checkin the AC will show a huge number of places you can reserve. Not just the high supply/low demand areas. You can sometimes get unbelievable resorts during the 59 day period (sometimes called "Flexchange time")

              Good Luck

PS The fees are generally about $200 for a 1 bedroom and $300 for a 2 bd.

With my AC 1 bedrooms are 249 and 2 bedrooms are 299. I was able to get a 2 bedroom with an AC at Saratoga Springs last year for the week prior to Christmas. I am hoping for the same luck this year.

                    Kierland Deposit

I deposited my smaller kierland lock off unit.
I own platinum season but don't have control of what Starwood deposits.

I didn't get an AC. Should I call or not bother?

Should I have gotten an AC? I was hoping for one but nothing.

I have not put in an ongoing request for II for December yet. I think I remember getting my exchange sometime in August last year for December 2008. When do you think they deposit weeks for December at DVC? Any guesses?

Because of the way Starwood deposits - no ACs are offered.

An AC is given as an 'incentive' for you to deposit - since Starwood just dumps - ahem, bulk deposits - a lot of weeks, II knows they are getting them so doesn't need to give anything in return .

As for your other statement about deposit - even though your resort is mandatory, you can request Starwood put a 'good' week in your II account - request a week from late January to early April and if they DON'T give u a week in that time frame, call them back and ask them to change the deposit to a good week.
If they start to tell you 'all weeks trade the same' -tell them that you have used different dates to search online and the Feb/March weeks definitely trade better then a week in July.

                        They will change it

I traded for December 2007 in early January 2007 - I was surprised as I used to believe they deposited 10 months out.
We now know they deposit as early as 11.5 months out so put in your request with your AC now.

Just an addition, you can travel anywhere on the GRID and book 12 months out (up until the expiration of the AC)
My grid has Ireland in January and November, December, so i can go then and put in a request now.
Or Palm Desert July-Oct and Dec
Or Lake Tahoe March-June and Sept-Dec.
So if you want to spend July 4th in Lake Tahoe - search for a June 28th check-in with the AC
Or Puerta Vallarta in June, Sept,Oct, Dec

They've already gone as far as late March/early April. Might as well get in line right now.
