Depending on where and what season you buy from Marriott, II will give you an accommodation certificate with your week.
You would most likely be able to use it for off season DVC.

And even "not so offseason." I just used an AC for a long weekend in OKW over Memorial Day.

        That was nice.

I joined II for just one year in about 2003. I never deposited a week because my online searches didn't pull much. I was surprised because I have week #7 at a UT ski resort (The Park Regency). Yes, it's only a standard resort now but it's an AWESOME week. Even SFX wants it. It's a "tiger" with RCI but I never see a Disney week with II. Even in Flexchange. Do you think an ongoing search would produce a Disney resort? There are top Hawaii resorts I never see either.

Why does II have such a low opinion of my week? Is it just because it's an older, standard, resort?

If you are not seeing any DVC outside of flexchange, I don't think an ongoing search will help. However, you *can* put an ongoing search on without depositing, provided the check-in day you are searching for occurs *before* the week you are searching with.

I'm guessing you are being bitten by the upward quality filter, which II employs pretty strictly. The fact that SFX will take it is interesting though.

My guess is that II really doesn't care too much about the week you own but mostly about the quality/rating of the resort. Week #7 is one of the most popular, and BEST traders (with RCI & SFX anyway), for ski resort areas. It shouldn't matter that the resort is standard or 5*. II customers are missing out on a LOT of good weeks. JMHO.

I own a similar week - it is Island Park Village - summer 1BR - a KILLER trader with RCI - and a very good trader but usually NOT into the top tier of II resorts.
So people aren't really missing out (well they are from your week) as owners with similar resorts are matching into yours.

So I suspect your week will do well in II (how could it not!) but will be filtered out of the 'top' resorts.
I imagine it would do well in the Caribbean and Europe where the level is not as high but you have so many more resort choices in RCI for those locations, plus RCI will let u trade into bigger units with that week - u would be silly to give it to II.

It is often frustrating to deal with the quality issue - I have a friend who is trying to trade a Marriott week Aruba into Ireland - those weeks at Old Killarney Village, Killarney Country Club and Seasons @ Knocktopher Abbey are there, i see them with other ownerships but not Marriott.
I told her to call II and tell them she is aware it is a lesser quality but she still wants the week...and to put an over-ride her account.

I'm one of those people who own a lot of DVC points, and I still look at Artsie Ang's posts every morning to see what DVC weeks are available. I was able to use two ACs and one Marriott studio weeks to get me 3 off season OKW and SSR one bdrms. I gave one to my Nephew and the other two we are using. I am saving my points for Animal Kingdom and my granddaughter's honeymoon at the Beach Club in May 2009. I was an original owner at DVC when I started with them. Too bad I didn't buy all my points then-- but I didn't. I own at Old Key West (OKW), Animal Kingdom (AKV) Beach Club Villas (BCV) and Vero Beach. I have never met a point I didn't like and our last purchase was on the DVC member cruise when I bought the AKV contracts.
I like to think I know a lot about Disney, Disney World, and DVC, since we have been going there for so many years. If anyone has any questions for me I will gladly answer them.
