Still trying to understand

Hello All - you have been helpful to me during the journey I thought I would put this out there for comment. As you may remember I deposited Xmas week one bedroom at CPB and about a month ago requested a 1BR on any Disney propery for an arrival on 11/13-11/16. So far no match. BUT, others have been able to see the unit available when searching. I can see DVC - and one day I could see all another was looking at EXCEPT for that week.

So....I accept that must be some special week for whatever reason and I just might not have the power to pull it. But now today I can pull 2BR outside of the 60 day window. DSS for Aug 24th and DVO Sept 21st.

Back to being confused - I can only assume my 1BR does have some sort of decent power if it can pull 2BR outside of FlexExchange. But how come just not enough to pull that week in Nov when it is available?

I have called II - the rep also is confused - asked her to see if the unit I wanted was still available - she said no - but then someone on the board said she could still see it about 1/2 hour after my call.

Just trying to understand.....any insight? Are my assumptions just simply wrong?

BE AWARE THAT SOMEONE CAN 'SEE' A WEEK ONLINE AND IN THE NEXT 10 SECONDS, SOMEONE ELSE CAN CLICK THE EXCHANGE BUTTON - EVEN IF THEY DON'T TAKE THE WEEK, IT KEEPS IT OUT OF THE SYSTEM FOR 18 MINUTES ....ALSO, 'PEOPLE IN THE KNOW' ARE AWARE U CAN CONFIRM AN EXCHANGE BUT STILL HAVE 24 HOURS TO CANCEL IT WITHOUT LOSING THE ORIGINAL WEEK OR EXCHANGE FEE....SO THIS COULD HAVE ALSO HAPPENED.

II IS very size conscious - so 'normally' you would not see a 2BR with a 1BR - I do remember that day when other saw your date but you could not. Was the unit u could not see a 2BR? and all the other weeks online were studios and 1BRs???? Or - SEE ABOVE COMMENT
Late August and Sept are probably the lowest of the low time in FL/DVC.
I traded a 1BR Sheraton for a 2BR Wilderness Lodge - it was just sitting there online so I gabbed it.

If you are seeing almost all of the DVCs - it is likely u will get your match. This is the week after Veterans Day and after the food and wine festival and before T Day week....you SHOULD get a hit.

Another strategy with DVC is to check 3-4 times a day as people 'throw back' the weeks they confirmed early in the day.....

The day others could see - but not me - was a 1BR unit.

I do check a few times a day - always trying to keep my eye on things so I can understand the system. But then something happens like the 2BR popping up today to confuse me.

Once I get my privalages to see the opp board - then I might be able to understand a bit more.

Yes, I have seen that week on line. Hmmmm, doesn't make too much sense. If you can see DVC outside of flexchange, you should be ale to see that particular week, as well. Nothing "special" about it that I can figure.

Not sure why II wouldn't have filled your request, since the week was just sitting there, on-line.

Keep looking, and don't hesitate to call II, again. What doesn't work one day, will work the next. No rhyme, or reason.

I also was there the day you could not see it and we could. I also saw another one come up yesterday for Old Key West same dates as the SSR one and it sat there all day until someone took it late yesterday. I am confused by this as well.

I am now looking for a week in November or for the first 2 weeks of December. I don't think I can get the first 2 weeks of December since it is prime time for us DVC members. I have a room reserved at SSR for the second week but I would like to use a AC that expries in December this year.

I would like a 2 bedroom but would settle for a 1 bedroom if it comes up. I will be putting in a online request next week and will update if anything becomes of it.
