I would think so too. But, if it doesn't hit, I can live with VWL. In fact, I'm half-hoping that I can just try out VWL, even in the smaller unit.

I think that I would take it, and continue looking for that 2nd bdrm.

You can use your other timeshare to put in a request, or wait and see what shows up during flexchange, and last minute. Stuff is always showing up, so you do have a chance.

Such the prophet you are! We just retraded into a 2BR, back at OKW. Works for us---we happen to love that resort, and have been there a couple times already. I'm going to love it even more to be able to banish the kids to the studio for bedtime so that the Mrs. and I can enjoy the rest of the unit afterwards.

Good question. I think there might be some dedicated 2BRs, but it doesn't make much difference, because the layout is nearly identical, I think. The dedicated ones might not have the second entry door.

No. We've stayed in dedicated two bedrooms and lock off 2 bedrooms at Old Key West. The 2nd bedroom in the dedicated two bedroom didn't have the entry door and if memory serves me correctly, it didn't have the balcony either.

When traveling with our grown kids, we preferred the lock off set up. But I could see how a family with small children would prefer the dedicated set up (safety reasons).

Here's how the units breakdown at OKW (per Dis boards info):

Old Key West
Rooms: 531 (761 max)
Dedicated Studio: 0
Dedicated One Bedroom: 0
Dedicated Two Bedroom: 274
Lockoff Two Bedroom: 230
(Each can be booked separately as 1B and Studio)
Grand Villa: 27

Ongoing search. As far as I know, it never made it online. The 1BR VWL I grabbed never did the first time around either, but when I released it to take the 2BR, it did show up in the leftovers for a short while. So, it would appear that there weren't many people searching for my week.

Having two units---one to hold the best thing seen so far, and another to search for something better---has been very very useful.

Old Key West

I picked up a 2 bedroom at old key west for Feb 14-21, I would think that is tougher than your week since it is presidents day?

Just curious, how long did you have that search open? I've had an ongoing search through Interval for a whole bunch of Key West resorts -- nothing. My dates are all through January and February 2009.

We deposited our week in March or April, and soon after we requested the following resorts in Key West: Hyatt Sunset, Banyon, Galleon, Hyatt Beach House, and Coconut Beach. We have a junior suite/studio. Dates: second week of January through last week of February 2009. We've also requested resorts in Sanibel and Captiva islands in Florida, plus a few in Belize, Costa Rica, and Isla Mujeres/Cancun. Nothing!!!

Would we have better luck doing the exchange privately rather than through Interval?

So, after re-trading, I left the original search running, but removed DVO and DSS, just in case one of the other three turn up. I got a call last night for another DVO 2BR that matched---the guy was just about speechless when I said "thanks, but no thanks." I think he expected me to jump for joy.

As far as I know, that 2BR never turned up in the "leftovers", so someone had a search going for it.
