Restrictions in trading near home resort

Just wondering if II policy on exchanging near the geographical area as the home resort is enforced?
I currently love my home resort (MHZ) in orlando but I noticed that while searching with a deposit for different weeks back into Orlando -other resorts not in the marriott system show up?
I guess my question is that if i try to trade into one of those resorts what would happen? would II reject the exchange? or would it go thru? Has this ever happend to anybody?

It certainly is in Orlando. It may be in other areas as well. But, it's not a blanket prohibition. In some systems, you can trade back into other in-system resorts. Other resorts don't have prohibitions at all---mostly, those not in active sales.

As I understand it, the filter is applied before search results are returned. So, if you can see it, you can trade for it.

I agree . . . if you see it, you can get it, cuz not every resort is blocked.

We started with Orlando resorts and were dual-affiliated. I was looking through some old stuff the other day and found some correspondences that I had had with II concerning this.

Specifically, I had challenged the fact that Getaways in Orlando were not available to those who own in Orlando. My position was that Getaways were essentially rentals of excess inventory that should not be withheld from any owners for any reason.

The end result of our jousting was that II opened Getaways to Orlando owners who also owned in other areas, which we did/do. Then, not long later, they were not available again, and I took up the cause again, with the explanation from II being that a computer glitch had defaulted the policy backwards.

Soon after that we jettisoned II as excess weight, to help keep our timesharing afloat.
