I recently purchased a timshare that is affiliated with II. I am now on the owners account as a guest (since it hasn't closed yet) and can access the site. I understand there is a feature that allows me to search resorts/dates, etc... before I deposit another week, is that true?. if so how? What do I click on? Thanks

    Hi Lesley,
I believe all you do is go to the Exchange section, put in the area and dates you want, and a screen comes up, showing the units you can use to conduct a search with....just click the unit you want to use...it will show availability then that matches the unit. If you want to confirm just select the exchange you want and follow the instructions. If you don't find something suitable just go log out without confirming anything.
Congrats on your purchase and welcome!

Thanks but I wanted to check

without depositing a unit. If I follow your instructions, it asks me for the reservation number for my unit. Maybe I can't search without depositing first. Thanks

I am not aware of a way to search without first making a deposit.

You will be offered different locations, and times based on the week/timeshare that you are depositing. Not all timeshares are equal, therefore, not all weeks offered are equal.

If I am incorrect, I would love to have the information also. I am unaware of any other way to search other than how katiemack described.

        Welcome aboard.....

If it is a Marriott week you are trying to search with...
use an 8 digit number starting with an "8" such as 87675645 or 82657363 05 87634987....trust me, it works

If it is another 'floating' week system, maybe someone else knows.....how to get around it.

After reading this, I signed into II. I selected exchange, and was directed to date/location page. I selected all, and put in my dates. I pressed continue and was directed to choose a resort. My resorts were listed for me to choose from. I saw no place to enter digits beginning with 8. What did I do wrong?...

You didn't do anything wrong. Ever different TS has a different way of confirming a room has been reserved at their location. Marriott needs a 8 digit number which starts with "8", other places need the room number, others need a 6 dital reservation number and the size of the unit.

You'll have to figure out what info II wants from you to do your "test" deposits. If we knew what TS you're trying to do a test deposit with maybe someone could tell you the information you need to input.

              Hope that helps

I am trying to search for either the Aruba Surf Club, or the Sheraton Plantation.

I don't know if it is because I have a week already deposited with II, or whatever, but, this is how it goes: I select 'Echange', I choose all destinations and put in my dates, I press continue and the 'My Units' page comes up, and I need to choose one of my units in order to proceed.

At no point do I see an opportunity to use an 8 digit number beginning with 8. I have no idea how to get to that screen....

Well, we have only been II members for a short time in TS years....so this is what we have done.

Go to Exchange section, put in dates, number traveling and area you are interested in...it clicks through to choosing a unit ...

If you have multiple ownerships, you see a list of those.

If it is NOT deposited, you will see AVAILABLE in blue, but if you have deposited it will say Unredeemed Deposit....in either case, there is also the Select in orange. This is the key to use for a search.

So, you pick your unit by hitting Select....the matches show up.

If you have not deposited, it works this way or of you have deposited, it works this way...makes no difference.

If you decide to click through to actually exchange one choice then I think you are guided through the rest of the process...but I have not chosen any units when I am using a non-deposited week, so I am unable to tell you how that looks.

If you are searching, without a deposited week, you will get a list of avail matches.

                    It worked....

Thanks for all of your help. It did work for me to use the Select (orange key), the only difference is that I keyed in a fake reservation number so I could see the matches. Thanks!

Pat, if you use a fake number, how do you know if that are the exchange possibilities that your home resort is pulling? I thought that every resort has different trading power?

I had never done an an online search for resorts because I never have any deposited but last week, I got my next year's confirmation at the MDSV and tried to see what I could exchange for with the confirmation #. I would assume that I would have a lot less choices than when you search with a Hawaii or Aruba timeshare week? Am I still misunderstanding this?

One more question for you. I left the two bedrooms as one unit so could I still split this up later to a 1 br and a lock-out? I have never done this either because we can't use more weeks.

                      TIA.

I do this all the time. I alway put in a unit which I can get a reservation for if I'd like to continue. The fake reservation is just that fake. But since you'll be using your home resort, you'll be able to see what that resort can pull.
For example: If I'm searching with my winter whistler week. I choose my whistler TS and choose a unit munber available to me, then a date which I'll likely be able to reserve. If I get a hit on an exchange I want, I have to go back and reserve that unit (or similar) and then search again with the unit which I have now reserved and complete my exchange.

You should search with a unit you're likely going to reserve/deposit. So since you have reserved a MDSV unit, that the unit you'll search with. Yes, it will not have the trading power of a Hawaii unit, but since it is what you'll be depositing, you'll have to search with it.

                        Hope that helps

Bill, what would be some fake MGV reservation codes? My account now lists all the MGV resorts. I'd probably deposit a Riviera Beach & Spa, RS or a Palm Canyon unit? Can you help out there?

I was a member of II for one year, back in 2002 or so. When you join they ask what resort & week you own. I said Park Regency but I wasn't going to deposit my week, I'd just do "request first" searches. They verified that I owned there and added my week. After you pick the area you want to 'exchange' into and the 'dates' you will see a list of weeks you can use. So, what do you enter for Reservation #? I entered a generic 123456 and for unit # I enter "R" because it's a float week. Then I make up a check in date. I think I learned this on TUG but can't be sure. I can check for potential exchanges even though I haven't been a member of II for over three years!
