Need advice w/ II trade

my husband and i are celebrating our 10yr anniversary in november. we have a 2br/2ba condo at royal islander in cancun. how far in advance do we need to exchange if we want a specific week somewhere else? also, i've read on here that marriott owners have first option on sister properties. anyone know where royal resorts falls as far as 'trading power'? and if you have any suggestions on places to check into please let me know. i'm sure it won't be easy to find something on a tropical island.

what week do you own at the Royal Islander? The week will determine the trading power, but you are right, it won't get you into a Marriott in front of the Marriott owners. Still, a prime season week would trade well, it'd just be a question of supply where you want to go...

royal islander is week 47. we have 3 young children so my husband doesn't want to leave the country. if there's an emergency he wants to know that we can get home quickly. i would love to exchange for the virgin islands. i feel like that's a good compromise w/ my husband but i don't think we'll get it.

If you would take a studio on St Thomas, there are nice studios at Bluebeards Beach Club that pop up periodically, several of our members really like them. You could request the Marriott on St Thomas, but it's unlikely that a November week will go unmatched to a Marriott owner (I presume you are talking about Interval International). You could also request Westin St John, but it's another long shot. Still, in this economy, anything's possible...

I'm not as familiar with the Arizona resorts, but there are a number of nice ones in both Sedona and Scottsdale. Take a look at the II resort directory. There is good November availability right now at Westin Kierland Villas and a few others in Scottsdale (all 1 bedrooms, the 2 bedrooms are gone). Also a few five star resorts in Sedona. Nothing for Thanksgiving week, but the rest of November is available and should be an easy trade for you with your Royals week. Check with II.

Once you have 30 posts you will be able to see our Exchange Opportunities listed daily to get an idea of what's available all over, but if you are willing to take Arizona in November (not Thanksgiving week), you should be all set if you act fast.
