This has been discussed a few times already as the program already exists for some II members with "corporate" memberships from mini systems like DVC and DRI. While they claim that they are appealing to "emerging consumer travel preferences," in my opinion they are trying to make use of distressed inventory. It is easy for the II online user to see that the inventory currently appearing as Short Stay is just weeks inventory that they want to get use out of in any way they can. The inventory that appears as Short Stay are either in the flexchange window or are in areas/seasons with expected/historical excess inventory. Nothing wrong with that but if you read their release it tries to paint a much different picture/reason, more timeshare lies.
