  • II and 'Switching'

After you have made an online exchange with II, will they allow you to call in and substitute another week from your deposited inventory and still keep the week you traded for?

Thank you in advance for sharing any information.

I think they will, but they will also charge you another exchange fee.

If it's within 24 hours, they will do it without the extra fee, but only if the week you want to switch it to would have enough trading power to pull it.
After the first 24 hours (which is really their free cancellation window), they will charge another fee, and you still need the trading power.

I was just coming to ask this question - I have a cancellation replacement week that expires in March 2010 .....I am going to call and see if they will switch for me a my original week expires June 2011.

I can 'see' the exchange with the cancellation week.

Pat, I'm confused. Do you have a confirmed exchange you're trying to switch to your cancellation replacement? You may indeed end up with another cancellation replacement, and now that you mention it, you're right, those are good for a year (and if you cancel within 60 days of checkin, they're only good within 60 days of checkin), but should have the same TP as your original week, including Marriott priority if you used a Marriott. Call back, and if you get someone else who doesn't get it, ask for a supervisor. Are you using the Marriott line?

I think it makes more sense with AC's...

The original exchange is with a Starwood week.....so Marriott desk switched me to Starwood....

The cancelation week is a non-branded TS 2BR silver crown.....

I think I will just hold on to it.....maybe do a long weekend at a drive to location - Atlantic City - when DH has off....will have to see.
              Thanks

Right. So you should be able to switch your silver crown cancellation replacement expiring March 2010 for a Starwood cancellation replacement expiring May 2010. Just a question of whether the difference is worth it. You could also wait longer, then the Starwood cancellation replacement would expire later, assuming they go by cancellation date...

Yes, I could.....but as u know I tend to plan ahead!
I suspect one of my kids can use the cancellation week......it is just that both of them are 'up in the air' - DS finishing grad school, DD just starting.

Pat, if it's there now, why not just book it with the cancellation week? A) Do you have one booked with your regular week, and there is another online? Or B) is there just one and you booked it with your regular week and want to switch it?

If "A," then book the second week, and wait to cancel the first until later. If 'B," then you could switch anytime (up to 60 days). What am I missing? Or is it just not worth the extra fee regardless?

That is a good point...because then it would extend the first week until Sept 2010....better then March 2010..and would have the Starwood preference....I must be brain dead today....

                      I owe ya one!

Just confirmed the exchange....Thanks so much!
