  • New in II....Short Stay Exchange......

This must be why II was down so long this morning!

Seems that I can now exchange my timeshares for short stays. I can stay from 2 - 6 nights, with each of my timeshares. I have the ability to search on-line to see what's available to me.

Vacation breaks that fit your schedule. Exchange your week* for two vacations, from as few as two nights to as many as six.

Gold just got better. Interval Gold members can now take advantage of this exclusive Interval Gold member benefit available online only.

FAQ's *Points based members can make as many Short Stay Exchanges as their available points allow.
PS.....Locations/Resorts seem to be limited, at least to me.....Oh, and I am not a Gold member!

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

So does this mean I should renew my gold when it expires? I didn't think I was getting any benefit out of it. At least not $100 worth of benefits.

I am not a Gold member, and currently have the capability of at least searching. It may be that if I were to try and book a short stay exchange, I would be forced into upgrading. Not sure.

I really like the idea of being able to split one of my weeks into two, long weekend vacations, but it all depends on what's available.

This has been discussed for awhile on TS4Ms as DVC members when they were II and DRI members and maybe some other point systems have been able to do this for some time. As I've said before, the inventory seems to be only flexchange inventory and inventory that II is sure to be an oversupply item.
... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

I've never had the capability to search for short stays in II, with my weeks, so it's new to me. I'm guessing that it's also new to other week owners.

I don't mind so much if they availability is mostly during flexchange, especially with long weekends.

BTW....Did point system have the capability to do online searches for short stays in the past?

Some interesting facts about the short stays....

ShortStay Exchanges can only be booked online at IntervalWorld.com.

Most availability is for 30 days, or less

You pay the full exchange fee for each exchange

There are no refunds, or temporary holds

You can exchange for the same size unit you are using for the search, or less

Deposit extensions are not available in the ShortStay Exchange Program

Resort Accommodations Certificates/Bonus Weeks may not be redeemed for ShortStay Exchanges

Exchange Cancellation Policy does not apply to the ShortStay Exchange Program

Insurance benefits vary by country of residency

You don't give them your full week......You can exchange any amount of days that you'd like from 2 - 6, for the same number of days.

So, you can get a 3 day weekend, and a 4 day weekend out of 1 week. Or one 5 day stay, and one 2 day stay, etc.

You can search online, just like with weeks. Take a look.

Wow, just looked these up, and long weekends are not a good deal for people on points. Example:
Palm Canyon Resort and Spa (RIS) 1 bed, 6/4-6/7 = 1750 points.
Palm Canyon Resort and Spa (RIS) 1 bed, 5/31-6/7 = 1750 points.

3 nights and 7 nights require the same number of points.

Now if you change the dates to 6/1-6/4, you go down to 750 points. So for people who can do 2 short midweek stays, it could make sense.

Using weeks, not points, it can easily make sense, depending on what's available......If I can grab 2 long weekends at nice resorts, it allows me to take a couple of vacations a year that I would not normally take.

Depending on what you have hanging around in your account, and what you MF's are, it just might be an decent option.

Hmmmmm, I wonder if this will open the door to II accepting 3 & 4 days deposits, opposed to only 7?

If I were to book a 3 or 4 day weekend at my home resort, which is allowed, could I then deposit the remaining days into II? That might be nice, if I could.

It isnt so good because you have to pay the full exchange fee for each confirmation!
